I want to throw up knowing they know my true identity. I’m not sure it can get worse than this. Not only has this date gone to hell, but more than likely he’s going to tell Kurt. I haven’t thought about the ramifications of him finding out the truth about what I’ve been doing. Maybe that will push him to do something drastic, more drastic than these ridiculous dates. What if this is the last straw, and he ships me off to some pack without my say? What if I never get to step foot on the compound again or see all the people I love and care about? No matter what happens tonight, I know there will be consequences, ones I certainly don’t want to face.
Paul’s hand is still tight around my wrist and Dave brings his hand up to grab the nape of my neck. “Come on, Omega. We’ve already seen it online. Might as well give us our money’s worth. Especially with the price Kurt put on you,” he taunts. I tilt my head, trying to absorb his words.
“Price seems a little steep for a biker whore, if you ask me,” Paul complains.
My eyes sting, my wrist hurts, and I’m trying to not shut down. I could do it, I think. Let my brain shut off and let my bodypay the price. The thought has bile rising in my throat. I can’t, I won’t. I need a way out of this.
“Please let go of me,” I plead.
“Oh, look at that. She has manners,” Paul spits.
Tears spill over and stain my cheeks as I hear the voice of an absolute angel.
“She said to let her go,” Axel commands calmly, leaning against his bike with a lit cigarette hanging from his mouth. He looks fucking deadly, like a demon raised from Hell to ride in and be my savior.
“Mind your own goddamn business,” Paul snarls, dismissing Axel.
Axel laughs and blows a trail of smoke into the air before tossing the rest of the cigarette out on the concrete. He steps away from the bike and looks to the right of his ride, where he picks up a steel pipe.
He drags it against the pavement, creating a menacing sound. “I said, let. Her. Go,” he repeats. Dave and Paul’s hands drop from my skin and the relief is instant. “Lily, get on the fuckin’ bike,” he orders. I must be in shock because I don’t move. Axel’s eyes meet mine, and while there’s anger on the surface, I see the softness he reserves for me. “Baby, get on the bike,” he commands.
I slowly walk away from Dave and Paul, but I don’t get on the back, knowing he needs to get on first. But I wait as close as I can to his VRSC.
“Listen, man, things got out of hand,” Paul starts backtracking while holding his hands up.
“Oh, is that what happened?” Axel asks with a laugh, a smile taking over his face as he swirls the pipe in a circle.
“Yeah, man. You just take her home. We can part ways amicably,” Dave tries to negotiate.
“You’re right. You’ll go your way and we’ll go ours,” Axel agrees, and the guys both take a breath of relief. “Except you left a bruise on my girl. I think you owe her an apology,” Axel demands.
“Listen, man, it was a—” Paul doesn’t get another word out because Axel swings the pipe and hits him in the stomach.
“I said, apologize,” Axel yells in his face. The smile he had before is gone, and he nudges Paul’s stomach with the end of the pipe.
Paul sputters and coughs as he holds his stomach while leaning against the wall. “I’m… I’m sorry,” Paul slurs.
Axel points the pipe at Dave, who holds his hands up in surrender. “What about you, asshole?”
“I’m sorry,” he whimpers, looking at Axel, who takes two steps forward.
The end of the pipe pushes against Dave’s stomach, making him take a few steps back until he’s trapped. The wall of the restaurant at his back and the force that is Axel in front of him.
“To her, you dumb fuckin’ cunt,” he growls, nodding his head in my direction.
“I’m sorry. I’m so sorry,” he whines in my direction.
It’s hard to get the words out, but I somehow find them trapped in my throat. “They can’t tell Kurt what they know,” I whisper.
Axel furrows his brows but doesn’t question it. He immediately takes my side and seems to be putting the pipe down to reason with these guys.
Paul and Dave seem relieved, but that quickly fades away when Axel pulls the pipe back and whacks Dave right in his thigh. I swear I hear something crunch; it makes me wince as the Alpha falls to his knees.
“You come around Lily again, I’ll fuckin’ kill you. You tell anybody about tonight, and I meananythingabout tonight, I’ll find you and I’ll do more than fuckin’ kill you.”
“Fuck, we won’t say anything. We’re sorry,” Dave pleads.
Axel lifts his leg and kicks him in the same spot where he hit him with the pipe, making him cry out.
