“Very well. Like I said, we will not be the ones who start anything. Understood?”
“Yes,” all three demons say in unison.
“Toth, stay. You two are dismissed.”
Beelzebub and Milcom leave the room, and I can finally speak freely. “As much as I dislike the little weasel you know I’ve been preparing us for this,” I ask, and Toth nods.
“So far there have only been a few successes of demons procreating, my lord, but offspring are all very human.”
I nod my head and sigh. “We need to check from my time on Earth.”
“Sir?”
I sigh, hating to admit this, especially now. How the fuck was I supposed to know that Lilith would be coming into my life? I can’t just make an heir with another demon. “There’s a possibility that I have an heir or two on Earth. They need to be found and protected.”
“Sir, if the angels know you have an heir–”
I wave my hand at him, cutting him off. “That’s why I said they need to be protected. If they are simply human, then they never need to know.”
“Of course, my lord. When should we start searching?”
I can’t face this reality just yet, not while Lilith is here and hasn’t even spoken to me today.
“Soon, this stays between us for now.”
Toth bows, leaving the room, and I groan while rubbing my face. Thank fuck, I don’t have to worry about stress-induced heart attacks, or else I’d probably have had more than I could possibly count. The angels, Lilith, the fact that I probably have spawns of Satan roaming earth right now—it’s too much.
There’s a knock on the door and my anger bubbles. “What?” I demand irritated, hoping that the person knocking will fuck off and leave me to my own little mental breakdown.
“Sorry, I’ll come back,” her soft voice replies, and I shoot up out of my seat, walking towards the door.
“I thought you were someone else.”
She looks up at me, straight in the eye. She doesn’t cower, doesn’t even look phased by my presence at all.
“I thought we were going to talk today.”
“Of course,” I say, holding out my arm and indicating the direction we should both walk in, away from the meeting room. I don’t even think as I grab her arm and portal us to my study.
She recoils from my touch as soon as our feet are flat on the ground. I try to not let it irritate me, but it does to my core. How can she not feel this? When I’m near her, every fiber of my being knows that she’s mine. Yet, Lilith doesn’t even seem to be phased by my touch at all, while hers sears deep into my skin. She doesn’t even seem curious about my appearance or who I am.
“How was your tour with Kas?”
“Insightful,” she says as she sits down on the couch and crosses her legs. I’ve never really thought about denim jeans before, but I quite like them now as I watch them stretch around her thighs.
I stand in front of my desk and sit slightly on top of the oak as I appraise her. She isn’t lying, I’d be able to taste it if she was.
Her blue eyes take in my height, and she can’t seem to hold back her opinion on the matter. “Why are you so freakishly tall? Are you fae like Elvor?”
My eyes widen. “You met Elvor?” While he is my best demon in the pit, he has a wickedly nasty temper, and his patience is as thin as a spider web.
“Yeah, he was nice.”
“Nice?” I’m pissed that she even noticed Elvor enough to compare our heights. And what’s with her calling him nice?I can be fucking nice.
“He let me stab a guy,” she declares, relaxing further against the couch. “Doesn’t answer my question as to why you’re so tall.”
“This is how tall people were when I died. He let you stab someone?” I question, and Lilith nods her head.
