They call me every night, and I speak to each of them. Tonight’s no different as I hold the phone out from my face. Anders’ head is bracketed by pillows as he speaks to me. “You should move in,” he says abruptly.
“What?” I say as I stop chewing my tasty cake and look back at the screen.
“Move into the house, so we can have as much time together as possible. I think we all know where this is headed. Then you don’t have to worry about paying Piper anything, and you can finish school if you want.”
“That’s a lot, Anders.”
“Is it though? You’re our scent match. We’re going to be together. Why fuck around?”
“Did you tell her yet?” I hear Eli say in the background, and Anders gives him a shitty look.
“Tell me what?” I ask, and Anders sighs.
“There’s something about the pack contract we haven’t told you.” My eyebrows rise, and I’m internally freaking out about what they haven’t told me. “Once we have a bonded Omega, they are permitted to travel with the team.”
“What?” I’m shocked and intrigued at the same time.
“It’s part of the pay cut we take to pay for our future Omega’s expenses. It would be a ninety-day period to make sure it doesn’t interfere with the team, but I can’t imagine that it would.”
“You would want that? Wouldn’t it be a distraction?”
“Kulta, not having you with me is the biggest distraction of all. You could take classes while we were on the road.”
I shrug and sigh. “I’m not even sure I really care about a degree anymore.”
Eli’s face pops into the corner. “You know I’m loaded, and we make a shit ton of money doing this, right? You don’t have to work. If you wanted something to do, you could always sell your macrame.”
I blush, loving that he remembered. “It’s been a while since I’ve made anything.”
“You could bring all your crafting shit on plane rides, and then ride my dick after a win,” Eli says, and I burst out laughing.
“Well, there’s one issue with this plan.”
“What’s that?” they say in unison.
“We’re not bonded, you idiots,” Mikael’s voice says, though I can’t see him on the screen.
“Well, that’s easy to fix,” Eli says.
My mouth gapes at how casually he says it, like we haven’t been to hell and back to be where we are today. I haven’t even gotten an ‘I love you’ from him or Anders, which is confusing. I know it’s there, it’s always been there, just never spoken.
“We’re ready to change that whenever you are,Kulta.”
“Maybe we can talk some more about it once you guys are home?”
The phone goes blurry as it’s snatched out of Anders’ hand, and now all I see is Mikael’s beautiful face. “You’re coming to our game on Saturday?” I nod my head. “Jake has box seats this time, so you don’t have to sit next to anyone else.”
“I’ll be there. I’ll wear my Foxes hoodie.”
“Fuck no, you won’t. I’ll send you a jersey.”
“If she’s wearing anyone’s number, it’s mine,” Eli says from somewhere in the room.
“Maybe I should just get an Alexi jersey.”
“Don’t fucking test me, Charlotte,” Mikael says, and I laugh.
“Send me one of each of yours. I have an idea.”
