I throw the witch into the room in the basement. She doesn’t try and do anything to hurt my vessel, so I’m gracious with not restraining her.
“Don’t try anything,” I say, holding the dark object near her face. I board up the door as best as I can, easily moving multiple heavy items to use as a barricade. I’ve done some research on witches, but I’m not completely sure of all of their abilities. Hopefully, the witch takes my warning seriously and stays put, at least until I get out of town.
I walk up the stairs until I find what I assume is Blair’s bedroom. A snake hisses wildly at me, shaking frantically.
“Shut up, or I’ll crush you with my bare hands,” I tell him. It stops its hissing and coils away into a corner of its enclosure.
I grab her purse, looking at her credit cards and pull out her phone. “What were your passwords, Blair?”
Fortunately, I don’t need them as all of her apps are thumb print based. “You can’t beat technology.”
I’m not going to let you keep my body, you crazy bitch.
“Oh, you’re strong. None of my other vessels could speak to me. It’s like having a built-in best friend. Where do you think demons would really hate to go?” I say as I pull up her banking information, happily surprised by the funds. “I appreciate you being such a saver. Now we can really splurge for the best location. Demons probably aren’t a fan of the cold I’d imagine with Hell and all?”
Once my magic is back, I’m going to push you out.
“You mean my magic? You just need to sit back and enjoy the ride, Blair.”
Dax will come looking for me.
“Oh, I hope he does. He looks like a lot of fun. Maybe I could take him for a spin before we set sail for our new life. Perhaps Svalbard? That seems like a very anti-demon place. Maybe there are vampires there in the dark months. I’ve been wanting to try a vampire.”
I can feel Blair’s grimace. “Not Svalbard? How about Iceland?”
A knock on the door breaks my concentration, and I put the phone on the table to see who it is. “Oh, maybe it’s your hot demon.”
If you hurt him.
“What are you going to do, Blair? Give me the silent treatment?”
I walk down the stairs, enjoying how this body feels. I’m happy Blair has taken such good care of this vessel for me. That was so sweet of her. We really are going to be the best of friends. Once she gets over this little fit she’s having.
I open the wooden door to see the demon from the sex club. Dax, she called him. He is quite rugged and handsome. I can see the appeal.
“Can I come in?” he asks. His look is hopeful and pleading.
“Of course,” I say, holding out an arm and leading him to the soft couch.
“You look better than I thought you would,” he says.
“I’m tough, I can handle it,” I say, trying to figure out the context of the conversation.
“I told Ryan everything. Including the fact I want to be with you. But we need to talk about why you felt like you needed to lie to me, and how you could for so long.” He places a hand on my thigh, and it feels nice. Really nice. Hopefully, this leads to more.
“I’m sorry, Dax. I was being immature.”
Dax raises an eyebrow at me and nods his head. “If we’re going to move on from here, I need honesty from you, little witch.”
I smile, nodding my head, and Dax looks bewildered in front of me. “Blair, why are you smiling and have a tear rolling down your cheek at the same time?”
I wipe the intrusive tear off my cheek. “Allergies,” I reply, standing up. “Let me just go get a napkin.”
“Blair?”
I don’t immediately answer and groan as I turn around. Dax is holding the dark object I specifically told Beelzebub to get for me. That incompetent, worthless rodent.
“Blair?” he repeats.
