“Virginia.”
“Have you been on tour before?”
“Once.”
“Great, well, we can just get to know each other later,” she says. She looks down at her nails and fidgets.
Thankfully, we reach the news station and we’re able to all leave this uncomfortable moment. I don’t need to know my clients on any other level beyond what is needed in my job to protect them, and that’s it. Especially an Omega—I have no interest. Packs aren’t my thing, and I know that an Omega just isn’t in my future.
I exit the limo first and hold out an arm to Miss Fox, which she grasps. She takes in my height with wide-eyes as I flank her side and we walk into the building. It’s bland and fifty shades of beige with different awards for reporting plastered over the walls.
“Thank you for being able to come on such short notice,” Miss Fox says to me.
“Of course.”
“Was the flight smooth?”
“It was okay.”
She sighs slightly and waits to be directed. “After this we will go right back to my apartment.”
“Okay,” I say.
She doesn’t engage me in any more conversation as she waits for directions.
A receptionist speaks to her agent, and they usher us into a studio. They place her in a black wingback chair. I stand nearby as assistants powder her face and touch up her makeup. The interviewer, Margo, walks into the studio with a fake smile glued on her face. I can tell this woman is a fucking snake, and I’m already on high alert.
“Sir, wait over here.” One of the PAs motions for me to move out of the frame, and I do while keeping a close eye on Cami.
Margo shakes Cami’s hand and sits down.
“Deja Fox, thank you so much for meeting with us today. Are you comfortable and ready to get started?”
“Thank you for having me, and yes, as ready as I’ll ever be,” Miss Fox replies.
“We are rolling in three, two, one,” a cameraman says.
“Thank you for tuning in to Celebrity News Now. I’m your host, Margo Waters, and today we have international pop artist Deja Fox on set. Deja, thank you for joining us today. We know you are busy on tour.”
“Glad to be here. Thank you for having me,” Miss Fox replies.
“So, Deja, you are currently on tour for your new album ‘Knot Thot’?”
Deja Fox smiles at the camera and nods her head. “Yes, we only have a few more stops on the tour, but it has been an absolute dream. I love my fans, and I’m just so happy that they have enjoyed the album.”
“There are reports that your sales are down after having images of you during your heat shared with the Internet. Is that true?”This fucking bitch. She looks over to her manager, and he just gives her a hand gesture to keep going on with the interview.
“The tour is going great, and I’m really excited for fans to hear my new music live for the first time,” Miss Fox says, confidently deflecting the question.
“Many people are wondering how you’re going to recover from this incident. Not only were graphic images of you shared, but overall people are questioning your ability as a role model,” Margo says, arching her eyebrow at her. I can see a light flush on Deja Fox’s skin, and she is clearly uncomfortable. She looks back up at Garth, and he doesn’t give her any sign she should stop the interview.
“I never said I was a role model. My lyrics are explicit and are not meant for children, so I’m not sure what you’re insinuating there.”
“You must know that younger generations are going to listen to your music. Seeing someone they aspire to be naked and in obscene poses will make them think that it’s okay to behave that way.” Margo gives her a smirk. Margo knows she’s hurt her. That was the whole point of this interview, wasn’t it?
It’s clear that Miss Fox is nearing tears when she steels her spine and sits up straight. “Those photos were taken without my consent in a vulnerable state. I am the victim in this situation. You should really check your facts before trying to report on something you don’t know about, Margo. I…I don’t feel comfortable continuing the interview,” she says, looking up at Garth.
“We can go in a different direction, right, Margo?” he asks. She looks like she is about to cry, and she would rather dig a hole in the ground than stay here for another minute.
