“Night, honey. I’m so glad I got to see your show. You’re amazing.”

Smiling, I squeeze her shoulder before I head over to the pool house. I lock the door behind me and clean my face and remove my wig before wrapping my hair and curling up into this massive bed. It feels too big and cold without Smith in it. I secretly hope I wake up on top of his giant body again.

Chapter 11

Itpainsmetolet Cami go to the pool house by herself, but I stand by the back window and watch as she walks to the small apartment and closes the door behind her.

“Nadia, I need your help,” I tell her mom. Watching her have a meltdown in front of her entire neighborhood made me love this woman even more. Which is saying something, because her food alone made me love her.

“Yeah, and what’s that?”

“I need to go out and grab some things from the store. I’m calling Franklin to hang out for a bit, but do you have a wig that Cami could wear?”

“What kind of wig?” She raises an eyebrow at me.

“The kind that Deja Fox would never wear.”

She smirks. “I sure do. Care to tell me your plans?”

“Not yet.” I smirk back at her.

“All right, well. Call Franklin over here. I’ll text you if anything seems off.”

I give Nadia a curt nod and head to Wal-Mart of all places. My cart is full of random shit. Half of it for what I have planned for Cami tomorrow night, the other half to fix Nadia’s garage.

If Nadia ever figures out who vandalized her house, I will gladly take a flight down here to kick their ass. Nadia can record it and then we can go to church after to repent.

Once I’m back at Nadia’s house, I get to work making a hot water and baking soda mixture. I use a paintbrush to apply it against the spray paint. It takes me a few coats, but the word slowly disappears and it feels like my anger disappears along with the disgusting word.

How much does the world expect Cami to take? I don’t know how much I buy from that Zach guy. He still took pictures of her when he shouldn’t have. How honorable can he be? But, if there is someone in her inner circle that needs to be removed, I have no problem doing so. Of course, Garth is at the top of my list for suspects. He acted differently tonight, though, after hearing about our encounter with Zach.

By the time the word is completely gone, I’m exhausted, as I make my way to the pool house. I unlock the door to find Cami wearing my hoodie, curled into a little ball.

I want to make her life better. She deserves it. She might not be mine, but I can show her how an Alpha should treat her.

Cami sleeps nearly all night and day. It’s almost four in the afternoon when I finally decide to wake her up.

“Cami, time to wake up,” I say softly.

“Fuck off,” she whisper hisses.

“I’ll get you candy,” I bribe her. She cracks one eye open and glares at me.

“What time is it?”

“Four in the afternoon.”

“Holy shit, I slept that long?”

“Your body clearly needed it. But I need you to get up, because I have a surprise planned.”

She sits up, still drowning in my hoodie. “What surprise?” she asks.

“Go get ready in the bathroom. Everything is in there that you need to wear.” She looks at me skeptically but crawls over the massive bed and makes her way to the bathroom. She shuts the door behind her and excitement rumbles through my chest.

Cami deserves a moment to just feel like a normal person, and hopefully tonight brings that. I spend some time texting my sister, who will not stop telling me how excited she is to visit us in New York.

Cami steps out of the bathroom and my mouth gapes open. “Okay, cowboy? You ready to go?” she asks, giggling. She’s wearing a dark brown wig that curls at the bottom with a black cowboy hat. Her top is a Harley Davidson shirt with torn edges and her shorts are daisy dukes. The cutest black boots adorn her feet. While I know I bought all this shit, I had no idea she was going to look this good.
