“Well, then I guess I’ll need to pay the shop a visit. If the owner will dare invite me.”
“It’s a public place. Maybe I can talk her into providing you with a special invitation.”
“When does this fabulous owner usually work?”
“She switches shifts every week to keep a pulse on the crowd and her employees. This week she has the evening shift. We close at eight. Promptly, I might add.”
“I guess I’ll need to keep that in mind. I certainly wouldn’t want to keep a lady from enjoying her evening.”
I shrugged on purpose, finally enjoying a sip of my coffee.
Another awkward moment passed with us giving the other a quick glance every few seconds. I had a feeling he wasn’t used to playing dating games, which was exactly what this felt like.
“So, Sin. What do you do?”
The look in his eyes changed, his expression becoming more serious. “I own a few businesses myself. I also dabble in real estate.”
“Ah, that explains the ten-thousand-dollar suit.”
He tugged at his jacket, peering down at himself. “What’s the saying? You dress to impress and to make money.”
That prompted me to slide a gaze down at my frumpy attire. I certainly hadn’t planned on meeting a hunk during my jog and playtime with Indiana, choosing a mismatch of purple leggings and a strange chartreuse tee shirt. “You’re right.”
“You know I was thinking. How about going out for breakfast? Just another way of saying I’m sorry.”
Not once had a man asked me out on a breakfast date.
“Are you asking me out?” Being around him reminded me of how awkward I’d been as a teenager. How to handle a sexy man during a meal wasn’t in my skillset. Maybe I should unlock the protective chains even for a few hours.
He took his time swallowing more coffee before lifting his head, those ice blue eyes piercing mine. “What if I was?”
I could easily tell him no thank you and be done with it. But why not enjoy some time with a handsome, charming man? Plus, we’d be in a public place. Nothing bad could happen. “Then I’d say yes. But only after a shower. If you have the patience.”
Why was it that every time his gaze slipped down from my face to my legs did my pussy begin to throb?
“So you know. I’m not usually a patient man. However, for you. I will wait.”
CHAPTER 5
Josette
Should I have left my guest alone in my house?
I had to trust that Indiana would bark if Sin was attempting to rob me blind.
Sin.
Just thinking about his name conjured up dozens of filthy images. I stood under the shower with my eyes closed, allowing a few very dirty fantasies to float through my mind. I couldn’t lie and say I hadn’t thought about him, wondering what his full lips would taste like while freezing to death sitting on the cold floor next to Indy’s cage.
At least through all the horror of the day before, I could breathe easier.
And smile.
It was nice to have a man in my house for a change. As the water cascaded over my head, beads hit my aching nipples andI shuddered. What would be so wrong with engaging in the very sinful acts associated with the man’s name?
I was a responsible adult. I’d worked through my phobias over the years. At least mostly. Through Indiana’s help, I’d become a well-adjusted woman. An entrepreneur to boot.
Who wouldn’t mind spending a few hours writhing under a sexy man’s body. As the soap swirled around the drain, the bubbles slowly fading, the other side of me, the one who’d kept me from enjoying aspects of my life, was busy trying to convince me my thoughts and desires were ridiculous.
