Cyrus winced. “Not on purpose…I'm guessing it's another consequence of me fucking with the timeline.”

“No, I'm pretty sure this is the consequence of you two FUCKING Ender!” Severo gagged as soon as the words came out. “Oh, by the darkness, saying that is just so fucking wrong. SO WRONG! No, like, why?!

“He was not for you two! Ender is a separate friend of mine that was supposed to remain SEPARATE! For a very good damn reason. Like, Cyrus, some of your family wants him dead, or, at the very least, imprisoned! What were you two thinking?!”

Severo eyed his friend as the man opened his mouth before just closing it again and rubbing his face with a groan. Cyrus looked…lost. But then, the man had just seemed more and more lost lately, even if he was ridiculously happy about his engagement with Killian.

Thinking about that… “What about your engagement? Like…what are you going to do?”

The Fate sighed. “I don't know… That's the truth. I don't know, Severo. I don't see anything, I don't know anything. All I know is I love Killian, and I want to be with him forever. As for Ender… We were thinking it was okay to comfort someone in pain…that's all. He was in pain and we were there. He reached out to us, and we didn't say no. We were comfortable enough to hold him. But I am thinking it's become more than evident that I need to leave my job.”

Severo had thought nothing would shock him more than learning his two very above the law friends had fucked a criminal, but this came pretty close. “Are you serious?! But it's everything to you, Cyrus. It isyou. The job, that life, your threads, your family…it's so much of what you are.”

Cyrus let out a tired chuckle. “It was. But while I don't know how Killian feels about it right now, besides freaking out like I am, I know him. Neither of us will abandon our children. So, the answer is obvious. But then again, from the very moment I decided to change Killian's fate, I suppose it was always coming to this. Us leaving.”

Severo heard what the man was saying, and he even understood the reasons, but it was just hard to imagine Cyrus doing anything else.

“So…children… Doesn't Killian not like them?” he pointed out.

Cyrus laughed again, the sound more sad than happy. “He loves them. He'd deny it, of course, but the truth is, what he really hates is the pregnancy itself, not the result.”

Severo winced. While he didn't really know all of the details, he knew some of them, and the rest was easy to assume based on what Killian was. “His family?”

“Yeah, that's about the crux of the issue. They also happen to be the ones who paid that fucker Riker to kidnap him. Not that we've been able to prove it yet.”

Severo sighed, as he slowly pulled a small slip of paper from his pocket and held it out. “Burn it after reading,” he said when Cyrus took it. “I guess all I can say now is good luck. Ender is… Hah, the man is a paranoid weirdo, but I do care for the bastard, so take care of him. Take care of yourselves. I would suggest you avoid threatening his chickens if you can.”

Cyrus blinked. “C-chickens?”

He smirked. “You'll see soon enough. Have fun with that wackadoodle. My suggestion, buy a giant bottle of pain meds because—” Severo patted his friend on the shoulder. “—you are in for many, many headaches."

The Fate scoffed. “Gee, thanks for the encouraging words, Severo.”

He laughed. “You are so very welcome, my friend. Keep in touch, and keep me updated. Let me know the due date as soon as you’ve got it! Bye!”

Waving like the asshole he was, he jogged back to his car, head still whirling with all he now knew.

Ohh…he couldn't wait to tell Seri! What juicy bits of gossip he had!

Ender pregnant by two men, and Cyrus Grimm no longer working for the Cryptid Enforcement Bureau, who could have ever imagined?

“No, cousin, I will not explain myself,” Cyrus ground out.

“You damn well better!? You can’t just abandon your job out of nowhere!? What is going on in that brain of yours?!”

“I’m notjust,” he drawled, before adding, with probably more glee than he should have, “Killian and I are just.”

“WHAT?!” Brom Grimm roared.

Cyrus smirked. Yeah, he knew that would go over even worse than just him quitting. Cyrus leaving was one thing…they could bribe, beg, and/or threaten another of his relatives to take over, but Killian was different. They couldn’t just replace a Director of Intelligence and Technology at the drop of a hat. Though…

Cyrus winced. He definitely should have spoken to Killian first before quitting on behalf of the Siren... He was so going to suffer for this. His Baby was going to make him hurt—oh well.

“Is that why you are leaving? Is he unhappy? If it’s the pay then fucking up it! He is your damn partner, you should know how to make him stay!”

“First of all, I can’t make Killian do anything, and second, this was never up for discussion, so I’d say this conversation is now over. Goodbye.” Cyrus hung up, not answering when his cousin continued to call back.

He shut down his phone as he pulled in front of the small two-story cottage Killian owned. The Siren was standing out front, three large suitcases next to him, along with a few smaller ones.
