The vampire blinked almost too innocently at him.
“YOU!” Harlow growled.
“Me?” More blinking followed.
Foxx had to say,Gavin sounded young, but then Harlow had mentioned he was…what, twenty-seven? Or something like that. The ‘organization’ bit did make him question some things.
Harlow groaned. “Oh, fuck my life.”
Ignoring the man’s obvious exasperation, he said, “Okay… Anyway… Gavin seems fun.”
“He’s a menace, just like you are,” Harlow grumbled.
Foxx giggled. “So, my type of person? And he’s coming here?! You need to tell me more about him before he gets here, because like, how can he stay with us if I don’t even know his likes and dislikes?! What if I offend him?!”
“You aren’t going to—what do you mean, stay with us?!”
Why ask such a pointless question?! Wasn’t it obvious?! “Well, he’s your family! Where else would he stay?!”
“In a fucking hotel!”
“Nonsense! We have room!”
“Foxx…fucking hell…”
Foxx frowned, he’d have to move some shit… The other bedrooms had kind of become his closet…but that was fine… He could always commandeer Alastair’s apartment for his clothes. Like the man wasn’t there all the time, and it would only be for a little while. The vampire only needed one room! He smiled. Yes…problem solved.
His smile dropped as his gaze was caught by the rearview mirror. He stared at the body bag. Speaking of family…now was not the time to get distracted when Santiago had just lost part of his… Thanks to fucking Maverick.
“Let’s get to Doc’s,” Foxx said, cutting off whatever Harlow had been ranting about.
“Is he even open?”
“It’s way before office hours, so no one else should be there. But Doc should be since he lives there.”
Harlow parked, but before he even had a chance to do much else, Foxx was already out, yelling, “Something’s wrong!”
“Foxx!”
Cursing, he threw off his seat belt and jumped out, rushing after the man. Following Foxx into the clinic, he trailed the man’s scent, catching sight of the vampire just as he disappeared behind a door markedLabs - Authorized Personnel Only.
Yanking the door open, he hissed, “Foxx, you can’t just—FOXX!” He rushed to the man’s side when he spotted him collapsed and gasping on the floor.
“Something… S-something in the air.”
FUCK! His eyes widened as the whites of Foxx’s eyes began to change to brown. “No… No, no…”
Harlow scooped Foxx up and quickly got him out of the room, gently setting him on floor, and then he rushed back inside to find fucking Doc, the one who had to have caused this.
He found the vampire collapsed on the floor behind his desk, his hand reaching out towards a broken vial. The man’s eyeswere mere slits, barely open, but even so, he could tell the whites of his eyes were fully brown…
The hand clenched. “Harlow…” Doc gasped.
Yanking Doc to his feet, he chucked the man over his shoulder and ran out of the room, kicking the door closed behind him. The metal dented as it shut. Flipping Doc none to gently off his shoulder next to Foxx, he demanded with an angry growl, “Fix this!”
“Counteragent… Vial… Desk… Shot—H-hurry!” Doc rasped.
Cursing, Harlow yanked open the door to the lab and rushed back in. Eyeing the desk, he grabbed the tube filled with a glowing green liquid, and a small sealed syringe that was laying nearby.
