The Dweller grunted, eyes closing.
Seri rushed off into the hallway, stopping by the door of Severo’s room. He stared at the darkness at the bottom. Taking a deep breath, he opened the door. His heart started to race, and with a shaky hand, he reached into the darkness and along the wall, sighing with relief on finding the light switch. Pressing it, the room lit up.
The walls had the same wood paneling as his room and the living room, the carpet plush and gray. There were two dark wooden dressers with blue accents in the corner against the wall. The bed opposite it was round with a silver frame, the covers were midnight blue. And the nightstands on both sides fit the curve of the bed, each with blue orb lamps on top of them.
The room was pretty much a copy of his, except Seri’s had a maroon and forest green color scheme. What was not like his room at all, were the several large piles of dirty clothes against the wall, and the random bits and pieces strewn about on the floor. Not to mention the mountain of towels by the bathroom door.
He eyed the laundry and the mess, and made a list in his head of things to do. Shaking his head, he snagged a pillow and blanket off the bed and left the room, leaving the lights on and the door open, before going to his own room. In his room, he went to the bathroom, grabbed a clean wash cloth and pulled water from the air to dampen it, cooling it as he did so.
Returning to Severo, he tossed the wash cloth on the counter. Severo’s eyes opened and he stared, brow raised.
“I thought…you’d be more comfortable with a pillow and covers,” he said awkwardly. “Hopefully, by tonight we can get you up and into bed.”
“To whose?”
“Ah…I mean…” Seri’s face heated.
Since admitting he’d been stopping Seri’s nightmares, Severo had been…sleeping in his bed each night. At first it started as him waking him up in the night and holding him. But eventually, Seri had worked up the courage to ask Severo to start the night there with him. Both were getting more sleep that way…
The Dweller smiled. “We can go to mine. It's the closest. You’ll just have to move Skya’s crib.”
“Right,” he said with a squeak.
Why was he more nervous being in Severo’s bed than his own?
Avoiding the man’s eyes, Seri covered him with the blanket and shoved the pillow under his head, before grabbing the wash cloth and dabbing at Severo’s brow. He wiped down his face and neck.
“Is there…” He wrung his hands nervously. “Anything you need? Something to drink? Eat?”
“Seri, I’m fine. I promise. I think some of those shots are starting to help. It doesn’t hurt as much as before.”
“It doesn't?” Seri asked with hope. He eyed the monitor again, almost breathing a sigh of relief on seeing Severo's temp at normal now. Though…maybe he should be worried that it was fluctuating so much… Could the device be broken?
“It doesn’t. Still hurts, and I can’t move yet, but I’m sure that’s a good sign.”
“Yes…” Seri frowned. “I was hoping it would do more than just take a bit of pain away.”
“Well, this is what these tests are for, isn’t it? Now…don’t you have an appointment?”
Seri blinked. “Appointment?”
“Your therapist?” Severo drawled slowly.
Eye’s widening, he checked his watch. Seri had like three minutes before his doctor would call. Why the hell had they done this now? Like, there should have been plans in place. Where was his head?
“I couldn’t possibly go! I can’t leave you alone. What if something happens?!”
“Seri, I’m fine. I’m just laying here. You will have to take Skya with you though. I can’t watch her without being able to do anything if something goes wrong. She’s too active now, it wouldn’t be safe.”
Seri hesitated…more worried about if it would be safe to leave Severo alone than Skya. The little girl, even now, was quietly playing on her own, ignoring them completely.
“I don’t know… It’s probably better if I just cancel…”
“Don’t cancel. Go. I’ll be fine.”
He chewed on his bottom lip for a second, staring at the man. “Maybe…I’ll just make it a quick session.”
“No, do your full session. Seri, really, I’m fine.”
