Seri walked out of the house and found the two men right where he left them.
Severo glanced over when he approached. “Put the pies away?”
“Ohh, pies?” Cyrus asked with clear interest. “Would one happen to be your famous homemade lemon meringue pie that I’d kill someone for, Severo?”
The Dweller rolled his eyes. “Yes.”
“You do love me!” Cyrus said with a smug grin.
“Ugh.” Severo held Skya out between them. “I’m taken.”
“Dah Dah, Oh-Oh,” she huffed.
“That’s right, Skya. Oh-Oh is Dah-Dah’s!” Severo said as he tossed her up lightly and caught her again, causing her to squeal.
Cyrus grunted. “Don’t flatter yourself.”
Seri tensed when another car appeared in the distance, relaxing on realizing it was Killian in the driver’s seat.
He smiled as the man parked beside their car and got out. The Siren was wearing a flowy glittering white blouse that stopped right above his knees and was belted at the waist. It looked like he had on black leggings underneath, and brown boots. Diamonds hung from his ears, neck, and wrists, and he had lightly applied make-up.
Seri really hoped that the somewhat-plain gray tunic-length button down, and the white fitted slacks he wore were nice enough. Everything was kind of dressy. His slacks were even tucked into his low heeled black ankle boots. He thought they looked…nice. He wasn’t sure the white pants would survive the night with Skya being there, but at least they’d be okay to begin with.
Maybe he should have added some accessories… He didn’t own any, but there had been time to buy some. Seri hadn’t ever been one for dangly stuff, or jewelry.
“Hmm, I thought I’d be dealing with a grump all evening, but something has him in a good mood for sure,” Killian mused as he walked up.
Severo snorted. “I made pie.”
“Ah, yes, pie, that explains it.”
“It’s not just pie,” Cyrus huffed. “It’s lemon meringue.”
Killian rolled his eyes. “Word of advice, Seri… Never stand between a man and his pie. He won’t pick you over it.”
Seri giggled.
“I would give up pie, and so much more, for Seri,” Severo vowed.
The Siren glared at Cyrus. “What’s your excuse?”
“I can eat the pie and then pick you.”
Killian scoffed.
At the crunch of tires, Seri glanced back to the drive, eyeing the car coming towards them. His heart started to race the closer it got.
Seri gasped on catching sight of the woman in the passenger’s seat. She really did look like a female Severo, yet…much more beautiful, and soft.
Seri didn’t get a good look at Severo’s father until they parked and got out. More because his eyes had been focused on her. The woman had long black curls that went well past her shoulder, and she was wearing flowing bright red pants and a matching elegant red vest that had a tie at the waist forming a bow, paired with red heels. Like Killian, she also had jewelry on, but hers were all gold with rubies.
Eyeing the man as they neared, he realized that while he was handsome, he didn’t look much like Severo. His chin was sharp, nose more hawkish, eyes gunmetal gray, and his jaw was boxier than the other man’s. Emiliano was wearing black slacks and a dress shirt that matched Annabella’s outfit.
The closer they got…the more Seri realized just how tall both of them were. Severo’s father was probably the same height as his son, while Severo’s mother looked to be only a few inches shorter than them—though her heels put her at the same height.
Looking up, his heart racing, as soon as they reached them, Seri squeaked, “Hello!” His face heated to magma levels the minute the word came out.
The woman smiled. “Hello, Seri. I’m Annabella, but you may call me Bella. I hope…when you feel comfortable enough, you’ll call me Mamma instead. Regardless of what you call me, just know, I am so happy to meet you. Can I give you a hug?” she asked.
