Shaking his head, he walked naked into the bedroom, and knowing that Severo was likely going to take another thirty minutes at least, he quickly dried off and got dressed. Skya no doubt was already awake and wondering where the heck they were.
Entering the hall, he made his way to the nursery, only to freeze when what sounded like a witch cackling came from that direction. What…in the fuck…
He stared. Shaking his head, he stepped closer, freezing again when the laughter returned.
“Who…who’s there?!” he called out. The laughter stopped.
Heart pounding now, Seri inched closer. When the door was right in front of him, he took a deep breath and opened it, prepared to attack whoever was in his house, and…stared. The room was empty.
“Dah-Dah!” Skya squealed happily. The little girl was in her crib, standing there holding on to the bars.
Seri frowned, jumped in and swung the door closed to look behind it, and again…no one. He stared at the now closed door. The cackle came again. He spun, eyes widening, his jaw dropped as the sound continued to come…right out of his daughter's mouth.
“Severo!” he hissed.
Severo hummedwhile he ran the shampoo through his hair, rocking side to side a little as he did so.
“SEVERO AMBROSE VOLI! WHAT DID YOU DO?!” Seri bellowed.
His eyes widened—uh-oh…
Cyrus glared at the car that pulled up, parking off to the side of his house. He kept glaring, even as the couple got out. Seri appeared to shoo Severo away with Skya, while the Nymph leaned back into the car.
“Aww, why the long face?” Severo asked with a laugh when he neared.
The man was dressed up for once, wearing a black button down, with black slacks, and dress shoes. Skya, on the other hand, was wearing a long sleeve white shirt, gray overalls with a white bear on the front of them, and a pair of dark gray boots. The bottom of the overalls were rolled up slightly.
“Why the hell am I being forced to not only host your parents, but put on a damn meet and greet at my house?!”
“First, watch your language, because this one will repeat everything we say.” Severo nodded down at Skya. “As for the rest, it’s because you are such a kind and generous friend.” The man beamed, his tone filled with so much sweetness that it made Cyrus want to gag.
“You literally called my damn parents on me.”
“Mm,” Severo hummed happily. “I did, didn’t I?”
“You did! And another thing, why amIhere for your family’s meet and greet?! Hosting is one thing, but why did I get threatened by your mother that if I wasn’t at dinner, she’d be having a long conversation with my papa?”
He shuddered—his birth father was not one to cross…
“Were you? Hmm, how about that. Well, you don’t have to worry about being lonely. Because I invited Killian too.”
“YOU WHAT?!”
“UT!” Skya squealed loudly.
“Why the HELL did you invite my boyfriend to this thing?!” Cyrus yelled, right as Seri was walking up carrying a few bags.
He flinched under the glare the Nymph aimed his way.“You will WATCH what you say in front of my child, you understand me?” Seri said stiffly.
Cyrus cleared his throat nervously, getting the same feeling he got when his papa was staring him down. “Understood.”
“Good!” Seri hmphed and walked past him…right into his house like he owned the damn place.
“That look could kill,” Cyrus drawled when the Nymph was out of earshot.
“I know!” Severo gushed. “Isn’t he great?!”
He stared in disgust at his friend.
