“Mm, I am. And I will most likely be taking just as many naps as she will be today.”
“Oh-Oh,” Skya said.
“Yes, my gummy bear?” Severo asked, coming over to kiss her on the forehead.
She gave him a kiss back on his chin, causing the man to laugh in delight. “Well, aren’t you being sweet this morning?”
“Bah!” she said, face pinching.
“What? Don’t like being called sweet? Well, too bad.” Severo tickled her, causing her to squeal and wiggle in his hold. “You are sweet as can be, and no one, not even you, can tell me otherwise.”
Seri snorted when she glared at the man.
Severo sighed. “You two are so alike.”
“She is just hungry. I’m pretty sure that ‘Bah’ was a demand for food.”
Seri walked past him and headed to the kitchen. Severo followed behind.
As the Dweller went to make breakfast, Seri sat Skya down in her high chair and put on her bib. Snagging her spoon and two premade jars of mashed food from the fridge, he turned and held them up in front of her.
“Okay, dewdrop, what will it be today? Mashed bananas or mashed sweet potatoes?”
“NANANNAAA!” she squealed, her eyes bright, arms waving, the fear from earlier seeming to be completely gone now.
He smiled, internally sighing in relief. “Banana it is.”
“So, what are the plans for today?” Severo asked.
“I think today I’ll just relax and spend time with Skya,” Seri stated, not looking back as he opened the bottle of food.
Seri got a spoon full and fed it to Skya. She hummed happily around the spoon. Meanwhile, some managed to drip down her chin instead of staying in her mouth. He scooped up that bit and guided it back in.
“Ohh, I have an idea… Well, more of a plan than an idea. As I made the plan and already bought the stuff. I just hadn’t carried out the idea.”
Seri glanced back, brow raised. “You don’t make any sense sometimes.”
“Yes…I know.” Severo laughed. “After her afternoon nap, I have a surprise for both of you!”
Seri narrowed his eyes at the man. “Is it more clothes?”
“No.”
“Then surprise away.”
“Okay, but I may have bought more clothes yesterday.”
Seri sighed. “Of course, you did.”
“It was on sale!”
“Of course, it was…”
“Aww, come on. All of it is really cute, I promise!”
Seri just shook his head and fed Skya another bite.
On hearingSeri and Skya coming down the hall, Severo dove behind the performer curtain of the puppet booth he’d set up an hour ago. He held up the small pink seahorse puppet and flipped the story book open, before slipping a second puppet on his hand so he was ready for the first act.
