Harlow chuckled. “Well then, if you have nothing more to say about the priest, or the crazy fanatic nurse, besides that you all are just grossly incompetent, then let me make something clear. If you ever let another priest freely roam around the paranormal side of your hospital again, I will make sure anyone involved is prosecuted to the full extent of the law, until you are not only buried in legal fees, but end up in prison until you are frail and gray. Is that clear?”

Though all that was about to happen anyway. He was just trying to make them think that shit wasn’t about to hit the fan now. Surely these two were somehow involved, probably the rest of the staff too. Really, who knew how many others. But them letting this man into the rooms of paranormals, even if they weren’t aware of what he was doing, had already opened them up to legal and ethical problems.

Robert’s jaw clenched, but he nodded. “It’s clear. We will make it known that priests and others alike are no longer allowed in the rooms of our paranormal patients, unless they are specifically asked for.”

“Good, you two can leave.” Harlow waved them away.

The CEO stood and stormed off, clearly irate. Nurse Gladys was slower to stand, and when she turned to leave, he stopped her.

“Wait!” Harlow snapped. “When can he be discharged?”

The nurse paused. “I’ll… talk to the doctor. Dr. Thorp initially wanted him to stay a few more days to monitor his progress.”

“Tell him I’m ready to leave now,” Foxx said. “And that I want a prescription for pain pills. And that it better be the good stuff. I want to feel nothing. I will not sit around in pain all day just because you are trying to ascribe to me the limits you’ve set for humans.”

She nodded before rushing out, closing the door behind her.

“They got you on the good shit now, don’t they?” Harlow asked, eyeing the vampire.

“They definitely do. I don’t feel a thing. How’d you know?”

“You laughing sort of clued me in. Not a single wince.”

“Mm, when they came in, one of the machines shot me up with something nice.”

Harlow chuckled.

Oh,they were really good drugs,Foxx thought. He didn’t feel a bloody thing. No pain, no nothing. It honestly kind of felt like he was floating. He frowned when the door opened again and two people he had never seen before came in. One was a vampire, who looked completely normal, while the other was a human with blue hair and was dressed like a 1970’s punk rocker…

“Oh, he’s awake,” the new human said with a smile.

“Took you two long enough to get back,” Harlow said stiffly. “Foxx, this is Iggy and Oceana, the hunter team I told you about.”

“We took so long getting back because Iggy insisted on stopping for breakfast,” the woman said with an irritated sigh.

“Still haven’t learned from the time you showed up late and mid shootout because you had to try some waffles in the dinky town we were in?”

Foxx frowned. “You know him?”

Harlow grunted. “I, unfortunately, ended up on the same hunt with him a few times, back before paranormals were revealed.”

“Nonsense, he was very fortunate to have my help,” the man purred.

“Well, your stomach made you miss the CEO and that nurse stopping by.”

“Ah they were already in and out? What did they say?” Iggy asked.

Oceana frowned. “We were already informed by our Guild Director that you two are not allowed to interfere, or be involved in the case.”

“Yeah, well, we were here and you weren’t,” Foxx drawled innocently.

Harlow ignored them all and answered Iggy. “We didn’t learn much. Just them making excuses, saying the priest wouldn’t do all that he was accused of. Everyone here is either just grossly incompetent, or they purposefully intended to cause their vampire patients harm.”

“I guess we’ll discover which during the investigation,” the female vampire drawled.

“Anyway, enough about work,” Iggy said. Walking to Foxx’s bedside, the man stuck his hand out. “Hi, there. Let me properly introduce myself. Name is Ignatius, Iggy for short. What’s a cutie like you doing with such a grump like this, hmm?” Iggy winked at him.
