“Speaking of the camera. I need to see if I can get the footage from him,” Alastair mused with a thoughtful smile.
This…asshole…
Foxx smiled sweetly, but asked stiffly, “And why would you need the video?”
His friend grinned, completely unashamed, and boldly said, “For my own amusement, of course.”
Foxx grabbed his ball of yarn and chucked it at Alastair’s head. “NO COOKIES FOR YOU!”
The vampire ducked. “Aww, come on! Just one cookie!”
“No!” he snapped, and hopped off his chair as the oven timer went off. Foxx quickly grabbed a mitt and removed the cookies from the oven.
Setting the tray on a cooling rack, he snagged the bowl of Hershey Kisses off the counter and quickly pressed them into the hot cookies before putting a new tray in the oven and resetting the timer. Foxx spun around in time to catch Alastair shoving a cookie in his mouth. “THIEF!”
“It’s just one!” Alastair cried, his voice sounding garbled due to the cookie. He swallowed. “Stop being stingy. You can’t eat all of these by yourself.”
“I will if I want to.”
“Acting like this, as if you don’t plan to send me home with a container full when I leave.”
“That’s when you leave, this is now!”
Alastair sighed. “Well, I’ll just wait then. Anyway, besides catching up, I actually had another reason to come over today.”
“A reason besides being mean to me?”
“Of course. I, like you, love to multitask.”
Foxx glared and tossed his oven mitt off. “Well, what is it?”
“Maybe you should sit down for this?”
“Just tell me.”
“Well, the weather has… Well, frankly, it’s become absolutely atrocious,” Alastair said with a sigh.
“It always is this time of the year in some parts. It comes along with that other horrible thing that takes place at the end of the year.”
“Yeah, before you start your rant about Christmas, let me finish,” his friend chuckled. “Anyway, it’s bad. And this type of weather and vampires don't really mix. So…I’m off to…Australia. Tomorrow, in fact.”
Foxx gasped. “You traitor!”
“Well, what do you want me to do?! I didn’t tell you to move out to bumfuck nowhere, with snow and temperatures not meant for our kind. I need warmth. I may not be as sensitive as you are with the cold and all that, but it’s still bad.”
Foxx glared. His best friend…was abandoning him to the cold. He’d be suffering all by himself. All alone. Wait a minute… Australia? “And where in Australia are you going?”
Alastair’s expression turned sheepish. “North…Queensland.”
“You! You cheater! You are going toher, aren’t you?!”
“Oh, for the love of the Goddess, Foxx. Meg is my friend. She is your friend too, for that matter! Why do you get so angry when I see her alone?!”
“IT’S THE PRINCIPLE! You are my best friend! She can have both, but not just one!”
“That doesn’t even make sense!”
Oh, Foxx was aware it didn’t make sense. But he also didn’t care.
