“Anything else?”

Foxx cleared his throat. “I’ll take a Jojo’s triple decker bacon cheeseburger, a small order of onion rings, and a large vanilla milkshake. Oh, and an apple pie fritter.”

“Would you like any sauces for your onion rings, or perhaps some vanilla glaze dip for your fritter?”

“Oh! Yes, some of the glaze dip, please. That’s all!”

“Your total is twenty-three, fifty-eight. Please pay at the first window.”

Harlow pulled up and paid quickly, stopping the car as he waited for the last car to move to get their food.

“All that grease,” he drawled. The vampire likely wouldn’t eat too much more that day, some snacks at most, but still.

“You got a salad at a fast-food place… Everyone knows that even the salads aren’t healthy, so why bother?”

“I wasn’t even trying to be healthy. In case you didn’t notice, I got a fried fish sandwich,” he snapped.

“Mmhmm,” Foxx said, obviously judging.

Harlow sighed.

The next car moved. All the other cars had cleared out ahead of them except that first fucker. That asshole was pulled up and parked by the side of the building, no doubt still waiting for his ridiculously large order.

Harlow quickly got their food from the second window and then pulled them into a parking spot. They settled with their food in their laps and started to eat. He decided to let Foxx finish most of his meal before asking about the case info.

They munched quietly for a little bit. Foxx finished his burger and most of his onion rings, while Harlow ate his fish sandwich and laid waste to three bottles of water.

Taking a large bite of his salad, he chewed and swallowed before saying, “Tell me what we are looking at, and where we are headed. Unless they didn’t give us a specific location. Though, usually when Charity says it’s a clear-cut elimination, we have a specific location to go to, so…”

Foxx shoved another onion ring into his mouth, before he pulled his phone back out and started tapping. “Ten vampires, just a list of names and pictures, and a single location. Nothing too unusual. And how typical…they are young and stupid.” The vampire held up the phone, showing him the screen.

He squinted, leaning towards it when he found the font too small to read.

Foxx scoffed and spread his fingers on the screen, causing it to enlarge. “You need glasses.”

“I don’t.” He leaned away, not bothering to look at the phone, even if he could read it now. Harlow refused to get glasses…he didn’t need them. He could maybe use them, but he didn’tneedthem…yet…ugh. “Location compared to where our hotel is?”

Foxx stared, eyes full of judgment, before sighing and flipping his phone back around as he tapped away. “The hotel will have us backtracking.”

“Want to stop by after? Then we can just relax there until we have to leave tomorrow.”

“Sounds good to me. Waste of time otherwise.”

“How’s the area where the house is located?” Harlow stabbed at his salad with his fork and took another bite.

Foxx shoved the last of his onion rings into his mouth and started to tap again. The vampire took a sip of milkshake before saying with a grimace, “It’s in the middle of bloody nowhere. Like, in the woods. The driveway has to be a mile long. Well…at least the place doesn’t look run down. Three floors though…”

Harlow smirked. “So, I would assume this isn’t the time for us to get a Christmas tree and toss it in the fire?”

“You planning to drag it a mile to the place?”

“No.”

“Didn’t think so.” Foxx sighed. “Ughhh, we are going to have to walk in the snow, aren’t we?”

Harlow chuckled. “Yep.”

“UGHHH!” Foxx groaned and slumped against the window, only to flinch away and whine, “My face! It’s cold.” The vampire rubbed at his cheek.
