Not much at all, he thought sarcastically as he eyed the oversized space—vampires and their money… Wait…first floor? Wasn’t this the first floor? Must be a British thing…
As the man dragged him towards the staircase, he scanned the room. He could tell it was at least three times larger than the house he just lost. The décor was colorful, yet not tacky. Which was surprising for Foxx. Not that he dressed tacky, but he had been expecting to enter a space full of ‘cuteness’. Frankly, the style didn’t completely match how he dressed.
Overall, the walls were white, and the floors a white marble. The open space had been divided into four sections. Two of the four were sitting areas that split up the large space in front of the windows. The first half had teal sectionals and some puffy gray chairs around a large wooden coffee table all placed on a dark purple plush rug.
In the other half, there were even more sectionals. They were dark purple this time, while the rug underneath the area was teal. The coffee table and end tables were square and a mix of wood, and purple and gold resin. Instead of the seating forming a small circle, they were pointed towards the wall, where a large TV was placed. There was cube-like storage under it, filled with what looked like gaming systems. Furniture aside, placed around there were abstract paintings on the walls, some resin and wood art pieces, as well as plants and wood sculptures.
Then there was a dining and kitchen area which was mid-way in the room and situated under what he was assuming was a second-floor balcony.
Letting himself be dragged up the steps that were at the far right of the room, he found that the second floor was much more closed off. Also, one could peer down on the first floor living room from the balcony.
He was going to assume this was where the bedrooms were. There was a small sitting area that branched off into two hallways, one straight back and the other going left.
Upstairs, Foxx finally let Harlow go and turned to face him. “So, up here are the bedrooms. There are five, well, six in total, including mine. Which, I mean, you are always welcome to share with me, by the way.” He fluttered his lashes.
Harlow raised a brow at him. Right…the flirting. He kept forgetting about that. Harlow ran his gaze over the vampire’s form. He couldn’t say his interest wasn’t piqued. Though, rather than piqued, it was more that he was curious what Foxx looked like out of his clothes, considering they didn’t really show his body well.
The vampire liked to wear baggy overalls. But even if he was wearing tighter jeans, usually the rest of him was covered up by an overly large sweater. Either way, he had no intention of going there. There was also the fact that he wasn’t a relationship-type person, and he had a feeling, Foxx was. Harlow wasn’t sure he was even capable of the emotions most relationships needed.
Shaking his head, he sternly said, “Foxx, let’s not go there.”
A pout appeared on the vampire’s face, but it quickly dropped away and his crooked smile was back, dimples, little fang and all. “Well, if you change your mind, let me know.” He sent a wink his way.
Harlow let out a snort.
“Anyway. There are five rooms free, but only three of them have their own ensuite, though there is a bathroom nearby the others. I’d suggest choosing one of those three, but that is up to you. Come, let me show you the rooms!”
Once again, Harlow found himself being pulled around.
The five rooms were all similar in style, with a lot of wooden accents and resin art. His choice was between the three with the ensuites; a light green room, a dark blue room, and a purple one. Harlow ended up choosing the dark blue one. After stashing his bags inside, he made his way back downstairs, meeting with Foxx in the kitchen.
The kitchen was just a bit past the dining area, and was a mixture of white and silver. The only thing with color in there was the kitchen island and barstools. Long and rectangular, the island looked geode-like, its surface a mixture of white, gray, and baby blue colors. The high barstools next to it, had backs and matched one of the darker blues found in the island. There was a hallway going out of the kitchen.
Foxx leaned his hip against the island as Harlow pulled out one of the baby blue chairs and sat down.
“Have anything to drink?” Harlow asked.
He was reaching his limit on ignoring his thirst. Harlow would have just smoked, but he was going to assume Foxx would appreciate him smoking in his home about as much as he would him smoking in his pissant little car—which was not at all.
* * *
Drinks? What did Foxx have? “There’s, of course, blood. But you being human, don’t drink that. Umm, I have juice, milk, a good selection of teas, various wines, and some bottled water. I’m not a big fan of carbonated drinks, so I usually don’t have any. I may have some coffee here somewhere…as a friend of mine drinks it.”
“Water is fine.”
Foxx nodded and moved away from the table towards the fridge. He opened it up and snagged a bottle of water. Returning to the counter, he handed it over with a smile. Foxx’s eyes widened when Harlow opened it up and drank it all down in one go. His face flushed a bit as he found his gaze focusing on Harlow’s Adam’s apple.
“Can I have another?” Harlow asked.
“O-of course.” He quickly got the human another bottle. Again, he was hyper-focused on his Adam’s apple as the man once again drank it down in a flash.
“Thirsty?” he rasped.
Harlow shrugged. “Always.”
Wait…had the human just flirted? No. It didn’t feel like flirting. It sounded like Harlow had been stating a fact. Foxx frowned. Now that he thought about it, Harlow had drunk an obscene amount of water during their first case. Which had resulted in a few stops to the loo.
Would it be too rude of him to ask…? Later. He’d try later. The guy just had his house blown up.
