I found out about their marriage two days after their wedding. There was one thing that I could always count on. That was a person’s ability to dry snitch. An employee emailed me directly to let me know that they would not be present at a meeting because their flight from Ireland, where they attended Johnathan and Cora’s wedding, was delayed. There were so many things wrong with the email because I had no idea who the sender was nor what meeting they spoke of. These were not the kind of emails that the president received, so whoever this was wanted me to know more than their flight was delayed.
I sent the email to human resources and told them to investigate and send it to where it needed to be. When HR came back with their marriage licenses and asked if I wanted them to be terminated for failure to disclose, I told them to let it go. When you tried to give people grace that they didn’t deserve, it always bit you in the ass.
Two days after Johnathan’s ass was terminated, his lawyer reached out. I wanted to tell HR to tell her to suck my dick, but I knew that was unacceptable. His retainer for his lawyer was awaste. She knew it when she came in for a meeting the same day to review the tape of the interaction as well as the whole failure to report. She left with her tail between her legs.
I wanted to fire Cora’s ass, too, but I knew that could be seen as retaliatory, so I let that shit go. Her ass was on a thin rope, though. I didn’t have time to worry about that. I had more important things to do like figure out how I would woe Jubilae out of her heart and panties. The order in which came first didn’t matter.
Our days were long here in California. It was continuous meetings and press about a new drug thatMediGenixdeveloped that was recently approved by the FDA. This medication could be a lifesaver for those who suffered with chronic pain. It was an alternative to narcotics which was a big deal considering the opioid epidemic that we seemed to never have gotten out of. Our patient trial yielded remarkable results that I was proud of.
Jackie and Joy had been a godsend these three days. When Jubilae first mentioned that she hired her sister, I wasn’t 100 percent sure about the idea, but it proved to be a great decision. Joy was a professional bulldog who had proven in the short time since she had been here that she was willing to bite behind not only her sister, but me as well. She and Jackie were like executive admin besties. That was great because Jackie hardly liked anyone, with her temperamental ass.
“Daddy! Are you listening to me?” Simonette’s elevated voice popped me out of my thoughts of Jubilae.
She called me almost thirty minutes ago to tell on her husband. If this was how she behaved pregnant, then I think I would be alright with one grandchild. “Yes, child, I am listening to you. Baby girl, you cannot be mad that Daylen ate all of his fries before you had a chance to get any. They were his fries.”
“Thank you, Pop Rob! I swear, she’s really over here in tears over some fries when she had a whole plate of her own.” Myson-in-law was frustrated like hell, and I understood. Pregnancy had turned Simonette into a brat about the silliest things. It was manageable, but it still frustrated those around her.
“Daylen, you always let me eat your fries. I leave you a bunch now, so I don’t even eat them all.” She fussed at her husband. This cannot be life right now.
I huffed. “Simonette, baby, a man has a right to eat his own fries. Now, I’ve seen you eat that man’s fries, and I’ve also seen how much you leave him. You do not leave him a bunch.”
Her sniffles pulled at my heart, no matter how unwarranted they were. She would always be my baby girl. Daylen had brought her into what these young ones called her soft girl era. She was with a man who loved her fries stealing ass. “I just wanted some more fries,” she mumbled.
There was scuffling heard on the other end. When I heard Daylen tell her that he would cook some more fries himself so that she could have some, I hung up. Their silly married shit would not get on my nerves. It had been a long day, and I was ready to see Jubilae.
We’d spent the evenings together into the wee hours of the morning since we’d been here. It was a lot of talking and watching movies. Something she said to me earlier made me think that tonight might be different.I think I might want to get a little more than cozy tonight. There were only so many ways to receive that.Let me shower and get down to her suite.
At my age and status, some would think that I was a man that went to sleep in silk pajamas or something like that. I was the exact opposite. I was a basketball shorts or sweatpants kind of man. I never had a problem taking care of my body since it waslike second nature for me to do so. Jubilae had even worked out with me a few times at the gym on our floor. If I thought her ass jiggled in her trousers, it was insane in her workout leggings.
Our attraction was mutual, that much we both knew. Jackie and Joy knew as well. They worked hard to make sure Jubilae and I had as much alone time as we could, during our workday, where it made sense. I definitely spent more time with her than the previous CEO spent with the former president, which was me.
Before I left my room to head down to Jubilae’s, I made sure I grabbed the bottle of wine that I had delivered for her. She loved good wine like I loved good whiskey or cognac. This wine was only sold here in California, and I wanted her to experience it to know if I needed to set up an auto ship.
When I got to her suite door, the sound of a male’s voice had my brow pulled up.Who the hell does she have in her suite?I knocked on the door.
Less than a minute later, it was opened. “Hey, Robert, you can come in. I was about to leave,” Joy said before she stepped to the side. She closed the door after I stepped into the suite. “Robert, let me introduce you to my husband?—”
“Chance Scott,” I finished her sentence. “It’s nice to meet you, man. I’m an admirer of your game.”
He shook my extended hand. “It’s nice to meet you too, man. I heard some good things about you.”
“Okay, y’all have met. It’s time for y’all to leave,” Jubilae blurted. “I’m sure y’all have better things to do than be here with us.”
Joy’s head snapped in her sister’s direction. “Damn, Sis! You kicking us out like that? Come on, baby. Let’s not hold up the rest of their night.” She wrapped her arms around her husband’s waist.
He smacked her ass, then chuckled. “Yeah, we do have something better to do. From the looks of it, so do you. Robert, it was good to meet you. I’m here for the rest of the week. Let’s make sure we grab some drinks before we leave Cali.”
“Oh, we can do that. Joy, if you don’t mind, tell Jackie to put it on my calendar. Something tells me that you will talk to her before I do.” That something was their nosiness.
She told me that she would shoot her a quick text, then she and her husband left. I took in Jubilae’s relaxed attire.Yeah, she’s trying to get cozy.“Do you have something for me there?” she asked.
I looked down at the wine gift bag in my hand. “Oh, yeah, my bad. I was stuck for a moment on how good you look. I found a wine that I think you’re going to love.”
Her cheeks rose before she looked down at her attire. She had on a simple shorts pajama set with a robe over it. Her legs were smooth, chocolate, and beautiful as hell. They deserved to be in the cuffs of my arms. The other two nights that we’d chilled, we both kept on what we wore to dinner. Tonight, she told me to come overgo to bedcomfortable.
“I have on pajamas, Robert,” she said as she walked toward me. Her perfume wrapped around my senses. She took the bag from my hand.
I took a step back. “Let me see if I have this right. During the day, you wear light floral scents. For evening events, you wear a more sensual fragrance, and at night, a calming scent. Did I get that right?”
