Plenty of times, I’ve had to take him on missions with the sole purpose of feeding his inner bloodlust. Itwas bad when we still lived with my father – our father. Kor would lose control anytime the man even spoke to him.

This is worse, though. His body is shaking as he looks down at Eve, his eyes zeroing in on her outfit and the blood staining her thigh. I know what he’s thinking – what we’re all wondering but unable to ask.

Eve must sense it, too, because she just shakes her head. “The glass…I kept it in my waistband at first.” She shrugs, “Then he made me change and I had to figure out a new place.”

I reach out and brush my hand along the hem of the nightgown. “So, he didn’t…”

“No. I mean…he might have tried if you guys didn’t show up but…I had it under control.”

Careful of her injuries, I pull her toward me and press a soft kiss on her lips. “I have no doubt,Reginetta.”

She hums into the kiss before pulling away to look back at Kortez. “Has he been like this the entire time?”

“No, just since…Well, we had a bit of a fight.”

Wylder snorts and we both turn toward him, “You mean when you pulled rank and made him tell you about his mother and your father.”

Eve’s mouth drops open into a gape. “He told you about her? I didn’t even know the full story…” She looks behind us at where Wade lays bleeding out on the concrete. “Wade told me. He said that you two are brothers and that he and Kor were. He told me that – “

“Enough.” The single word has both of us turning to Kor. He’s closer now and the shaking has seemed to go down a little, but he’s still in too deep.

I press a kiss to Eve’s temple and pat her butt. “Go to him,Reginetta.”

Chapter 47

Eve

Kor watches as I slide from Atlas’s lap and begin to crawl towards him. Blood sticks to my knees from where it shot out of Wade’s neck and onto the floor, but I don’t mind it. I know my Kor likes his woman covered in blood.

He waits until I’m kneeling in front of him to speak. “Take it off.”

I don’t need him to explain. He’s shooting daggers at the nightgown as if it personally wronged him. Silk drags across my face as I pull it over my head and toss it to where Wade lays on the floor. Blood immediately begins to soak through the thin fabric as Kortez reaches down to grab my chin in his hand. He tilts my head to the side, examining the bruise I can feel radiating down my jaw.

“He touched you.” I feel him tense and begin to pull toward Wade’s body, as if he was going to desecrate the corpse for what he did to me, but I reach up and grab his hand.

“He did but I’m fine. He didn’t get that far beforethe shooting started.”

The humid air feels almost cool on my nipples, making them stand to attention. Kor’s eyes dip down to my chest and lock on the blood between my breasts.

His eyes flash. “My control…Evie. Fuck!” He shakes his head as if trying to dispel the voices. “Theyneedyou, Evie.”

Roman’s voice sounds from behind me, “I think we should stop him, but this is too hot.”

I hear someone hit him behind me and stifle a laugh. Wyld’s voice rises above the sound of Roman’s protests. “Do you want this, Evie? Say no and we’ll calm him down another way.”

Kortez growls at Wylder’s words but I’m already shaking my head. “No. He’s mine to calm down. I do want you all to stay, though.”

“Fuck.”

I don’t know which one of them says it, but it doesn’t matter. My eyes reach Kor’s as I slide my hands up his thighs, dried blood scratching against my skin and flaking down into my lap. “My hero. You came for me.”

He reaches down to let my hair free and runs his fingers through the curls a few times before fisting it at the nape of my neck. “You’re mine.”

I nod as much as I can as I unbuckle his pants. “Yours, Kor.”

He doesn’t move as I slide his pants and boxers down his legs. When they reach his ankles, he toes off his boots and steps out of them. His hand releases my hair as he kicks the pile of clothes to the side and pulls his shirt off, tossing it to join the others.

“Turn around and get on your hands and knees.”
