He knows how pretty she sounds when she’s in the throes of passion, but it’s been too long and no doubt she sounds different than she did ten years ago. He didn’t even recognize her moans over the phone. And Kortez…he doesn’t even know what they sound like.

But they’ll be here, soon.

My eyes scan the nearly empty parking lot as Eve continues to pace, my gaze sharpening at any hint of movement I can see.

Atlas and Kortez are officially in Denver, have been for a day or so, but they wanted some extra time to look around the city and see if Wade had left his stench anywhere. All three of us know that Wade’s behind the shooting at the club and my issues with Thompson. We just need him to get close enough to get caught in one of our traps.

I’m happy my brothers are here. I’m not so insecurethat I can’t say I miss them, but when they show up, I know things with Eve will change. Right now, we’re getting close. Our relationship is…nice. We have coffee together every morning, even though I hate the American shit she drinks, and we work on the case every night. Our days are filled with small touches and lingering looks that I know would turn into more if possible.

I don’t even think Wylder is trying to cockblock me as much as he was in the beginning. It’s almost as if leaving the door open two nights ago was a test – one I was happy to take. Of course, I wish it was me instead of Wylder making my girl moan like that, or at least that I was beside him with my cock in her mouth keeping her moans muted instead of the gag.

Watching was a good start, though. Now, when I do get my chance, I’ll know what she likes.

Problem is, it’s going to be a lot harder to get time alone with her when Atlas and Kortez show up. A whole lot harder.

My face gets covered in shadow, and I look up into the eyes of my lawyer – my obsession. My Little Moth.

“Feel any better yet?”

She rolls her eyes and nudges my leg with her foot. “Get up, we’re going to Larry’s.”

I stand, wiping the dirt and pebbles from my pants. “Okay, but Larry’s kinda sounds like a place truckers go to get laid by cheap prostitutes.” I shoot her a wicked smile, “Pretty blonde lawyers are more my speed.”

She scoffs and takes my hand in hers, “Just come on, it’s right up the road.”

Right up the road turned into only being two blocks away, and Larry’s turned into being a strip club.

Who names a strip club Larry’s? The owner, Larry, who greeted Eve with a hug and a smile as soon as we walked through the door.

“There you are! It’s been too long, girl! We miss you around here!” Larry runs his hand through his graying hair before motioning to a hallway near the back of the stage, “Not many of the girls are here for the day shift but I think Cherry is back there.”

Eve smiles and practically throws me her briefcase. “Hold this.”

She starts walking toward the back hall, leaving me out front with an old strip club owner in the middle of the day. I take a look around the club, noting the empty stage and the weathered tables surrounding the raised platform. There’s a single man sitting at the bar nursing a drink, but he looks so wasted I doubt he’s even realized there’s even other people here.

Larry chuckles at my side and claps me on the shoulder, making me tense. Back at home, a clap on the shoulder meant bad news. Here apparently, it means Larry offers me a drink on the house.

I ask for a beer and settle into one of the bar stools, motioning back toward the hall. “How do you know Eve?”

Larry smiles, looking back at the hall before going back to drying glasses, “She worked here for a little while, back when she first moved to the city. No clue why, as she had that fancy lawyer job and she could’ve been fired, but she made a killing. Never kept any of it, though.”

My mind hammers with questions. The more I learn about Evangeline Patton, the less I know. Who is this woman?

I take a large swig of my beer. “She still comes around?”

Larry shrugs, turning to put the glasses away. “Notas much as she used to, but yeah. She’s close with a lot of the girls and comes in to give them legal advice and whatnot, issues with their ex-husbands and stuff usually. She’s even helped me a time or two.”

I’m about to ask him another question when I feel a touch on my shoulder. Eve stands at my side, her eyebrows raised and a smile on her face that makes her look like a damn angel. “Asking about me?”

I shrug, “I’m curious about the woman who I’m falling for.”

Her eyes flash and I watch as her tongue flicks out to wet her bottom lip, her gaze never leaving mine as she says, “Hey, Larry, you mind if I do a quick set?”

My heart skips a beat in my chest as I realize what she’s saying. She’s going to dance.

I hear Larry tell her to go ahead, but my eyes are stuck to her as she winks and walks away, her hips swaying as they disappear down the hall.

There’s another tap on my opposite arm and I turn to see Larry smiling at me. “I’d move seats if I were you.”
