“Am I assuming no one from your crew knows the truth because you are mighty clingy tonight, BK,” I said as he took a seat on the oversized lounge chair, then gently pulled me into his lap.

“Clingy? Damn, a man wants to show his woman some love and have her to himself. But not the ladies or Art. Why? Your girls know?” I nodded without saying anything else on the subject as I attempted to reach over him for a blanket. Burkeley pushed me back, scolding me in the process.

“I got it, M&M. Don’t be doing the most, putting all that pressure on Peanut. Your stomach is growing.” I wasn’t even sure he would notice since he hadn’t had that much tummy time but he wasn’t wrong. Since seeing Mackie last week, I had officially popped and my once small pudge was givingoh baby, every bit of my four months and counting.

I smiled just as Burkeley tossed the blanket over us then put his hands on my stomach, matching my smile.

“When will Peanut start moving?”

“According to the baby books, anywhere between this week and twenty-two weeks. I don’t think we’ll be able to physically feel them on the outside until later though.”

“I can’t wait to actually see them moving in there,” he said as he let his big hands roam my belly more freely, as if he was trying to pinpoint where the baby was. I glanced up at Burkeley and caught his excitement not only in his tone but painted all over his face through his wide eyes and deep smile.

“We might not be around each other when?—”

My words were cut short by Burkeley’s hand moving quickly to my neck, hooking it in a way that had my head falling back as he leaned into me more, pressing his mouth against me as he spoke.

All these low whispering moments are going to have me spreading these thick legs.

“Not tonight, not here. We have an audience and I’m not above proving my position in front of a fucking soul, M&M.” Back was that roughness that had me letting a low moan out. By the time I got his burning eyes, I licked my lips as I nodded before I did something I knew would change everything.

So prove it.

I tossed my arms around his neck and mentally said fuck my rules as I put my mouth on his. Our kiss wasn’t rushed, but it was deep and sensual as fuck, and had me wet as hell. Our tongues quickly became tied to each other as his mouth took control, sucking and biting my lips. Another moan came out and I knew it was loud.

Burkeley kept one hand on my stomach, but the one on my neck moved to the back of my head and tugged my hair, causing us to break our connection. I came up breathless, my chest rising and falling rapidly.

I caught something in his eyes but couldn’t read the expression.

Fuck, did I go too far?

Before I could apologize, the sound of oohs and oh shits rang out, reminding me that even though Burkeley and I acted likeit was just us in our little bubble, we in fact had a full blown audience right now.

“Yeah, baby number two is going to be in there right next to baby one real soon,” Art joked as they made their way around the fire. It was weird how even with me now knowing just about everyone knew none of this was legit, I still blushed from embarrassment as I tucked my face into Burkeley’s body with him wrapping his arms around me.

“Shut up, fool, before I kick you out,” Burkeley joked back but his tone held real threat behind it.

“Out of the backyard that ain’t yours? How does that work?” Art asked. Everyone was cracking up at the two of them going back and forth, including me.

Burkeley grunted before he put his attention on me.

“I’m going to get something to drink. So you want a snack too?” I nodded.

“Yes, please. My snacks are in the cooler and can you bring me some hot chocolate too?”

“Yes, baby anything for y’all.” Burkeley kissed my lips, erasing any fear I had built up that quickly that I’d gone too far.

Yet, just as fast as it came, it went. My mind was back to playing tricks on me.

It could be an act. Remember, his brother doesn’t know.

I tried to shake it off as I joined the conversation flowing around the warm fire about what everyone did for a living while I eyed Burkeley at the table with Quincey who was getting drinks for him and Johnni.

I wanted moments like this to bereal, forever.

But not with just anyone.

Him.
