“Good, so when are we telling your parents?”
McKay
My heart was racing as I knocked on the door. It had been a long ass time since I’d brought a man home and now, in the words of Burkeley, I was bringing not just my man but my child’s father too. I still couldn’t believe that in under a week—no, two days—he had me going back on a lot of the rules I’d set in place to keep us both safe. The only few that remained intact were no sex and no kissing outside of appearances and when deemed necessary by one of us. But of course, Burkeley did whatever he wanted, like right now. I felt his body all over mine as he leaned into me, placing a gentle and innocent kiss to my forehead. I couldn’t lie, my damn eyes closed and I leaned into the quick kiss as my beats per minute seemed to calm. I hadn’t felt his lips on mine yet, but I enjoyed feeling them in the two spots they seemed to always find now.
My neck and my forehead.
“You’re shaking, McKay. Calm down, girl. They’re your parents.” He chuckled as he muttered more to himself but since we were so close I heard him loud and clear. “I should be the one nervous right now.”
The sound of the locks disengaging had me smoothing my hands down my jacket over my stomach before Burkeley’s hands stopped me mid-swing of the door opening to my mother’s warm and bright face.
“Well, hello my beautiful daughter. I swear if your ass avoided me one more gotdamn day I would’ve forgotten who you look like. Still me I see,” my mom said as she pulled me into the house.
“Girl, you act like it’s been months. It’s only been a couple of weeks. You’re doing way too much in front of company,” I said as I walked inside with Burkeley helping me take off my jacket, making my mom put her bright eyes on him as his smile seemed to grow bigger. My mom put her hand on her chest, gawking while I rolled my eyes at her dramatic antics and hung my jacket on the coat rack, then reached for Burkeley’s as he blushed from Kat’s reaction to him.
“Oh my. I know you said you were bringing this mystery man, but Mickey, he’s handsome.”
My dad cleared his throat, gaining everyone’s attention as he came into the foyer sporting his infamous scowl.
“Kat, I know good and damn well the only man you better be calling handsome is me and yo’ daddy. How you doing, young man? I’m Chris and this is my wife Kat. It’s nice to formally meet you. I feel like my baby’s been hiding you for far too long.” He extended his hand to Burkeley who accepted it and shook, while my mom waved him off, dragging me away from Burkeley.
“Mama, Dad, this is Burkeley,” I said as I grabbed the bag with the surprise for their baby announcement.
“It’s nice to meet you too, Dr. Bailey, and trust me, you’re not the only people who feel this way about our relationship. My parents just said the same thing about McKay. I hope you’re a fan of Black Ops.” He then presented the bottle of liquor I told him was a bad idea considering I couldn’t drink, but of course Burkeley laughed in my face and said it wasn’t for me.
“Chris, please. And you’re my kind of guy, this is perfect. Let’s crack this open with dinner.”
“Speaking of, I hope it’s ready because I am starving,” I said, eager to get this secret out now that I was here. Even though my pudge was still small, I still felt it necessary to suck my stomach in.
“Starving is a new word for you, but yes, it’s ready. Burkeley, I hope you enjoy seafood. My daughter called and requested catfish for dinner.” He chuckled as we all walked to the dining room with Burkeley’s hand dangerously close to the top of my ass on my lower back.
“Yes, McKay also told me what would be on the menu and that I better not have any complaints about it,” he teased as we walked further into the house. I turned to face him, playfully rolling my eyes.
“Damn, she got you spoiling her ass already, I see,” my dad said.
“I’m trying but believe it or not she fights me on a lot.”
“Okay, enough about me as if I’m not here. I’m going to take Burkeley to wash his hands before dinner.” I grabbed his hand then continued past the dining room to the half bathroom where we could go over the plan one more time. Once inside, I closed the door and let out a heavy breath I had been holding, then rubbed my belly. I then turned on the water just in case extra ears were lingering nearby.
“Whew, okay, one more time. How long have we been together?”
“You’re quizzing me now, McKay? You do know it was me who came up with that part, right?”
“BK, how long have we been together?” I asked again.
“Six months, and you’re fifteen weeks pregnant, or three months, almost four. Stop stressing. Everything else about us will flow naturally. Breathe with me.” When BK reached down and rubbed my shoulders then moved his hands down my back, massaging gently, my eyes automatically closed from his technique, matching his breathing.
Five seconds in and hold.
Five seconds out.
Just like on the porch, Burkeley managed to make me relax. It was weird how he was able to calm my racing nerves so fast.
“Good girl, just like that,” he coached. His lips made their way to my forehead. I swear the low but steady throb of my clit made the flood gates between my thighs open just from that simple ass sentence I was sure Burkeley didn’t even mean in the way my pussy just took it. “Now let’s wash our hands before your parents think we’re doing everything but washing up.”
That had me opening my eyes to see the sly grin on his handsome face.
“Well that’s one thing they don’t have to worry about happening,” I said as I passed Burkeley the bag with their baby announcement gift, then turned to go first while he just chuckled behind me.
