See? I’m always right. ;-)
The smile on my face is starting to hurt from talking to him like this. As every day passes, I fall for him a little more, and I can’t wait to find out who this guy really is!
CHAPTER TWELVE
Zoe
I wake up to the sound of the app going off. I slowly open my eyes to see it’s barely eight in the morning, and I have a message from David.
Can I ask for your advice?
So not what I expected to see from him, but something must be bothering him, and I like that he’s coming to me for help. I sit up in bed and swipe the notification to answer.
Morning! Of course! What’s up?
Sorry. Good morning. I hope you slept well.
I did. What’s on your mind?
I got an email from a client that I’m presenting to tomorrow, and from what she said, I don’t think we’re on the right track.
OK … I feel like there’s more to that statement that is puzzling you.
Yeah. I’m working with someone on the project, and I don’t know what to tell them. I know they put a lot of work into it.
But you don’t think the client will like it?
That’s the other issue. I’m not positive. So, I don’t want to say something and be wrong.
But what if you’re right?
Exactly. I was thinking of spending the day working up something as our “oh shit.”
Do you think you can do that in one day?
I think I can put together something close enough so they get the concept.
If you don’t mind putting it together, I think it’s good to have the backup. Will you present this concept no matter what or just in case?
No. It would be just in case. I don’t want to stress my coworker out beforehand. They will do most of the talking, so I don’t want to throw them off their game.
I always say listen to your gut.
Exactly. I always do. But I’ve never had my gut feeling affect someone else. It’s a big client, and I don’t want them to leave thinking we didn’t hit the mark, but I’m really thinking we did.
This is really bothering you, huh?
It is. I barely slept last night because she sent the email right as I was going to bed.
Bummer that you checked it!
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I should have just left it unread, but I didn’t think anything of it because she was supposed to be sending me some numbers. I didn’t expect anything else that would throw me for a loop.
That’s the worst, especially to get it late at night. If you have no other plans today and don’t mind putting in the extra work, then I say you should do it. If the client truly hates what you guys prepared, then there’s nothing you can do but try to save that client. That’s what’s more important here. Hopefully, you can show your coworker the email, and they will understand what you had to do.
Let’s hope. I’d better get to work. I’ll text later if I have time. Otherwise, enjoy your Sunday.
I’d say you too, but it sounds like you have your work cut out for you. Good luck!
