“Because I don’t know what you’re talking about.” I laugh.
“The flier for your show at Ruby’s on Thursday.”
I shake my head in disbelief even though I know she can’t see me as I reply again, “Maybe they put something together, but I haven’t seen it.”
“Here, I’ll send it to you.”
I wait while she taps away on her phone, and I put it on speakerphone so I can see whatever she sends me.
My phone dings with a text, so I click on her name to open up the message, seeing a flier that blows my mind.
“Oh my God!” I jump for joy. “This is amazing!”
I was expecting something simple with text and the time, but, no, this thing is professional-looking, to say the least. It has multiple pictures of me, taken from my social media, as well as Ruby’s logo, all cohesively put together, making it look like a real concert flier for someone who’s already made it big.
“Right? Girl, you’ve made it! This is just the beginning. You know I’ll be there. I’ve already got someone to work my shift that night.”
“Aw, thank you!” I say, still amazed at the support I’m getting from all sides right now.
“Okay, my break is over. I was sitting, trying to relax by scrolling on social media, and I got all worked up when I saw your flier,” she jokes.
“Well, I’m glad you saw it. I don’t know if I would have!”
“Congrats. I’ll call you later.”
“ ’K, bye.”
She hangs up, and I pull up my texts to send Joey a message to thank him.
That flier is amazing. Thank you so much for putting it together.
Don’t thank me. That’s all Silas.
I sit in stunned silence as I look at the screen, seeing Silas’s name.He did this?
OK. Thanks.
After I hit Send, I feel so stupid that I had no idea how to respond, but felt like I needed to say something.
Before I can overthink it, I pull up Silas’s text thread and send the photo of the flier to him.
I can’t thank you enough for this! It’s amazing!
I told you I would help! How’d you know it was me?
Joey
Should have known. And full disclosure: I didn’t make it. My sister did.
You called your sister?
Heck yeah. You think I could do that on my own?
Reading his message makes me giggle.
Please tell her thank you. And thank you for setting it up.
You’re welcome.
