“Just as Dio did to me,” she mumbled back. “I really want you to be easy on Dio. I love him just as you love Zaria,” she said to me.

I stood from the couch. “The love Z and I have is different. I cannot explain it. The lengths I’m willing to go for her, I can tell you now, it isn’t the same lengths you would go to for that nigga Dio. I will ease up, but you need to know the nigga you call yourself loving. Picture me on a lower scale.”

She pressed her lips together and smiled. I knew her and Dio hadn’t been through a real trial yet, but when they did, it was going to break me to my core because I loved them both. As I went to grab my phone, Z came through the door. I almost broke my neck to get to her when I saw her hair pulled in a high ponytail and blood coming from the front of her head. “Z, what the fuck happened?”

She calmly took her coat off and set it on the rack. “I beat a bitch ass is what.”

I almost laughed. “You did what?”

She quickly spun to face me, taking hold of my shirt and pulling me into the kitchen. “You know I will move the moon and stars around for you, right?” she asked.

“Just as I will for you.”

She ran her soft hand down my chest. “Fiona, I went to see her, and I beat her ass.” Her voice went from soft to a low octave.

A nigga was turned on that Zaria had done the exact same thing I did to that nigga Mister bitch ass. “I don’t like fighting, but if I have to, I will. I’m the only one fucking on this,” she said as she tugged at my sweats.

My lip rose into a grin. “You on some freaky shit or what?”

“I can hear y’all!” Samara yelled.

My head popped out of the kitchen, “Stop yelling, my plants can hear that shit. Why do I have to keep telling y’all the same thing?”

I turned back to Zaria as she began wiping her head. I grabbed her by the back of her neck, pulling her close and pecking at her wound. “She does have a nice house, though,” Zaria said as she tried to walk past me.

“Fuck you going? You got a nigga ready.”

Zaria smirked. “Checking on my babies.”

If I weren’t hurt, I would have picked her up and thrown her over my shoulder. I tried giving her the head nod toward the steps, but she wasn’t budging.

I walked out of the kitchen and snatched my keys and coat. “Since a nigga not getting no ass, I’m going to check on Bishop.”

I was praying that my friend pulled through. There was so much chaos outside the Calloway house that staying inside helped keep my mind calm. But as soon as I left those doors, I left June behind, and Chevy took over. When I stepped into the cold winter air, I noticed how dark the clouds were. Something bad was about to happen, so I had to stay ready. I saw Beans rushing away from Zu’s place. I hope our conversation helped; if not, he would have to find his way out of the Zoo.

I had gone to hop in the Caprice when I saw Foe, Peanut, and Diamond pulling up in my driveway. I turned toward them as they hopped out of Foe’s car. “We found his ass,” Foe gritted.

“Yeah! The bitch was caught slipping. That nigga face is fucked up like someone tried to fry his ass like chicken,” Diamond added.

I guess today was better than I expected. “He at the Zoo?” I asked.

“Hanging like a rack of fucking meat. Ayo, you going to tell Nigga Myers or what?”

I thought about it, but right now, he needed to be there for his brother. “Nah, I’ll handle it. Thanks,” I said and started to get in the car.

“Mi-mi-Mison’s co-co-co coming,” Peanut paused. “Home.”

I nodded. “Good. Let’s make sure we make shit smooth for him. Zoomas is around the corner,” I finished as I hopped in my car, I reversed around Foe’s car and took off.

Naheem’s time was up, and every moment I thought about my nigga being laid up in the hospital was going to cost him. This was personal, real personal.

PAIGE

I wanted to do something special for Braylen since he had never had a good birthday. I wanted to find a way to keep a smile on his face, but I wasn’t sure what to do. I decided to call Samara and see if she wanted to go around with me to pick something up. To my surprise, she was excited and willing.

I had to work with what I had since leaving Covana. Nobody had time to grab anything for the holiday break after all of us left abruptly. So, I had to work with what I had at my mother’s house. After getting dressed, I left. I let the music hype me up on the way to pick up Samara. When I arrived and texted that I was outside, she came out right away. She rushed over and hopped in. “I hope you don’t mind. I invited Alyse, who, of course, invited Morgan,” she said.

I smiled. “That’s cool, it can be like a girls’ day.”
