“Why were you looking for me? Huh, Rich Girl?”

I bit into my bottom lip, thinking of what to say. I already made myself look thirsty by screaming his name. Now he was asking me if I missed him. If I shouted yes, that would sound even thirstier, knowing he and I hadn’t had that many interactions. He pushed my loose hair behind my ear, “Tell me. Just say it.”

“I did,” I mumbled.

A sexy grin eased on his face, exposing his grills. His smile was so contagious that I couldn’t do anything but smile. Samara glanced down the hall at us and signaled for us to come backtoward the living room. “I thought since most of us don’t know each other, an icebreaker would be fun.”

Kareem and I headed back toward everyone while Dio stood next to Samara. “Mars, come on, man, we’re just trying to chill.”

“Like, stop fucking complaining, Dio. Have fun, that’s all you have to do,” she snapped.

Streets laughed at him, pointing. “She told your ass. Now shut up, nigga.”

“Keep talking hop-a-long or your ass is going to end up—”

“Dionysus!” Samara shouted.

I held my hand up, “I’m down for an icebreaker, girl, what you got?” I said.

She smiled as if she couldn’t wait. “Let’s do two truths and a lie. I’m sure you all played this at one point, so there is no need for instruction. Besides, I got another fifteen minutes. I’ll go first. I am older than my boyfriend. I used to be into BDSM. I am pregnant.”

Dio slammed his hand on the island. “The first two cause ain’t no way your ass is pregnant!” he shouted.

Peanut laughed. “Ch-Chev-go-go-gone-be-be—”

“Stutter Man, stop while you’re ahead,” Dio said, pointing at him.

I stood. “I’ll go. Let’s see, I used to be married. I own a house in the islands, and I’m into gaming,” I finished as I glanced down at Scooter.

Alyse looked at me, confused. “The marriage is a lie!” she shouted.

Everybody laughed, but I didn’t. “That’s the truth,” I mumbled.

“Morgan!” Alyse shouted.

I turned to look at Kareem, who gave me a look that made my skin crawl. I sat down and tried to lean into him, and he just eyed me, “We can talk about it later,” I mumbled.

“Well, shit! This is intense!” Dio shouted.

Kareem stood. “A’ight fuck it. I was locked up. I’ve never been in love. I’ve tried committing suicide.”

I swallowed deeply because I hoped the claim of suicide was a lie. I tugged at his shirt so he could look at me, but he didn’t. Dio walked over toward us. “Your lie is that you have never been in love. That look, it’s the same one I had,” he muttered.

Phoebe looked around and shrank in her seat. I glanced at Beans, who pulled his eyes away, and in that moment, my heart broke for them because those notions alone let me know they’ve all considered it. Samara came over, “Um, Paige! Your turn, and girl, I hope it’s good.”

Everyone turned to her, and she shied away. Beans leaned over and whispered something in her ear. She turned to look at him, and the way they stared at each other was interesting. She slowly stood. “I’m into gaming. I’m,” she paused. “I’m. I don’t want to play,” she said quickly.

Alyse sat straight up. “I feel weird,” she moaned.

Phoebe began laughing while Streets’ head dropped forward. Suddenly, it was as if someone pressed a button, and I began to see colors. Kareem went from looking normal to 3D-like. “What the fuck,” I muttered.

“Samara, what the fuck was in that Zoo juice?” I heard Dio, but he sounded like a robot.

I began to panic and hyperventilate. Samara came around and stood in front of me. “Just breathe. Whatever emotions you’re going through, just let them flow.”

I saw Dio snatch her arm back before he tried to grip the wall. “Mars, what the—”

“It’s Shrooms, baby, relax. I just wanted everyone to get along,” she whined.
