I couldn’t bring myself to regret any of it, though.

“We’ve agreed to keep things discreet until my internship ends in a few months.”

Marco pondered this before giving me a solemn nod.“Smart move. Can’t have corporate thinking you’re sleeping your way to the top.”

“Exactly. So, for now, it’ll just be our little secret.”

“Speaking of secrets, I need you to tell me.Who has the bigger cock?Hugh or Emmett?”

“Marco!”

“What?!It’s an obvious question.”

Shaking my head, I brought my pinched fingers to my lips and dragged them across, miming throwing away the key.

Marco gave an anguished groan.“Why are the big-dicked, sexy CEO billionaires never gay?Or at least bi?Such BS if you ask me.”

We dissolved into giggles.I was reminded again of how lucky I was to have an amazing friend who loved and supported me unconditionally. No matter what complicated romantic roads lay ahead, Marco would always be my person.

CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE

EMMETT

“Thisis your apartment?”

“Is something wrong?”

“No, not at all.I was just afraid you were going to have, like, gold-plated floors I’d be afraid to scratch with my twenty-five dollar pumps.”

My shoulders relaxed, and I grinned.I still needed to work on not jumping to conclusions when she asked a question.

“It’s an easy way to weed out the people who are only into me for my money. If they scoff at the fact that I live in a 1,200 square foot condo with only one bathroom, they’re probably not here for me.”

“So, I passed the test?”she asked, rising onto her tiptoes to wrap her arms around my neck.

“You did.”I grasped her by the waist and leaned down to cover her jaw and neck with kisses.

She tilted her head to the side to give me better access.“I have always been a very good student.”

I continued kissing her neck, slowly maneuvering her toward my bedroom.

“Honestly, I’m relieved,” she said, allowing me to guide her through the doorway.“Rich people make me feel weird.”

I laughed, pulling away from her neck but leaving my hands on her waist.“I am rich, though, you do realize.”

She glanced around my bedroom.Dirty laundry spilled from the basket that I must have knocked over in my hurry to get out the door this morning.

“Billionaires,” she said wistfully, “they’re just like us.”

“Not all of us,” I said.“You should see Meg’s place. She has a penthouse downtown. The floors aren’t gold, but it does feel quite palatial.”

“I can’t believe I didn’t put it together sooner,” she said, her hands grazing down my chest, my abs before she clasped her fingers together at my lower back.“Since she lived in the dorms, it never even registered that she could be aPricePrice.”

“Dad made us both live on campus freshman year.Said it builds character.”

He wasn’t wrong, either.

After years of boarding and prep school, it was humbling to be in the dorms like any other eighteen-year-old kid figuring out college. It was nice to just feel normal that year.I hadn’t bothered telling anyone who I was, and they didn’t seem inclined to dive too deep into my personal shit.Wick and I ended up in the same building, and we built a solid group of friends.
