“It’s not that easy,” she sighs.

“Yes, it is. It’s that simple. Romi and Averi are mine now just like you are.”

“You remembered their names?” she says with awe.

“Yeah. I told you. They are yours so they mean everything to me too.”

For a moment, she just stares into my eyes as if she’s thinking or trying to figure some shit out. She doesn’t say anything so I don’t either. I rock with her vibe and wait. In reality, I don’t have anything else to say. Adora is who I want. I’ll do anything for her which means I’ll do anything for her daughters too. That shit is simple and natural. I’ll never be the type of clown-ass nigga my momma fucked with. I’m not even built like that.

Minutes later, her hands fly around my neck. “Promise you’ll never hurt them or me,” she says so sincerely.

“I promise.”

“Then okay,” she says, nodding. “You need to meet them.”

“I’m ready whenever you are,” I tell her.

“Sunday. We’re coloring eggs. You can join us.”

“You tell me what time and I’ll be here.”

“Four o’clock.” She kisses me then stares at me again. “It’s going to be fun,” she says, voice lacking confidence.

“It’s going to be straight and fun,” I assure her, then kiss her again.

Nodding while smiling, she says, “You’re right. Now, come take a shower with me before the food comes.”

When I pullup to the crib, I see Peaches is back. Her ride is parked on the left side of my driveway. I’m actually kind of glad she’s here because I need to holla at her about something. I went to the new location this morning for a few hours since I took Friday off. After spending all morning and afternoon laid up on Adora’s sexy ass and eating, I took my ass home and chilled. I spent all day Saturday at my main location so I had to check on my second spot this morning.

As soon as I enter my kitchen, I hear Peaches going off. Just because I know how wild Kadean can be, I follow her enraged voice into my living room. He’s sitting back on my sectional looking chill as fuck but she hovers over him, pointing her finger and cursing.

“You really need to grow the fuck up. I’m not stupid. You turned your fucking location off on purpose. Just tell the damn truth!” she yells.

“Man, I already said I didn’t. All that yelling ain’t gon’ change my answer, so you need to sit yo’ lil ass down fo’ I—” he begins, then sits up, so I step in.

“Y’all good in here?” I ask.

“No!” she yells.

“I’m good,” he scoffs.

Although they answer at the same time, their answers and tones are opposite as hell. She’s not backing down and he’s getting heated. I need to break them away from each other.

“Peaches, I need your help,” I say.

“Her help? She don’t know shit,” Kadean says and I give him the “chill the fuck out" look. He just shakes his head.

“I know more than your stupid, lying ass,” she snaps, then rolls her eyes before stepping over to me. “What’s up, Xai?”

“I need to get something for two little girls,” I tell her.

“Little girls! Bruh, don’t tell me you got caught slipping,” Kadean says and Peaches rolls her eyes even harder.

“Ay. Watch out. My girl has two little girls,” I tell him and he just shrugs.

“How old are they?” Peaches asks.

“Four and six. I’m meeting them this afternoon and I can’t show up emptyhanded,” I admit.
