“She must really like Thanksgiving.”

“Most of the decorations belonged to our grandparents. They loved anything that was quirky or unusual.”

“You’re lucky you were able to spend time with them.I was only a baby when my mom’s parents died.”

“What about your dad’s parents?”

Theo stopped to admire a carved turkey.“They’re still alive and living in Florida.I don’t see them as often as I’d like, but at least I know they’re happy.”

“That counts for more than most people realize.”

He looked at Diana and frowned.“I imagine it does.”

She opened the kitchen door and smiled.“Welcome to wedding central.”

Barbara and Katie were sitting behind a table loaded with candy, ribbon, and a box of small, colorful bags.Charlie was sitting beside Katie, looking longingly at the table.

“You’ve arrived at the right time,” Barbara said with a smile.“How do you feel about filling little bags with candy?”

Theo looked at the envelope he was holding.Speaking to Barbara after he’d helped wouldn’t make any difference.“As long as you show me what to do, I’m all yours.”

Barbara pulled out the chair beside hers.“You can sit here. What’s in the envelope?”

“I’ll show you after we’ve finished. How many table favors do you have to make?”

Katie picked up a sheet of paper.“Another thirty-two should do it.It won’t take too long.”

Barbara gave him a handful of small bags.“Originally, we were going to cut the tulle into circles, then tie it with ribbon, but Katie had a better idea.”

“It was really Mom’s idea. She saw these bags in one of her supplier’s catalogs. All we have to do is drop six peppermints into each one, tie the ribbon into a bow, and they’re done.”

That seemed simple enough to Theo.“What else have you been doing today?”

Barbara placed a finished bag onto a tray in the middle of the table.“I’ve been working on my clients Christmas campaigns.Katie went into town to check on the flowers for the wedding and Diana took our guests on a sightseeing trip around Flathead Lake.”

“The flowers will look amazing,” Katie said with a sigh.“Kylie from Blooming Lovely is making the bouquets and her assistant, Jackie, is making the flower arrangements for the church.”

“It must be a relief to know the wedding’s only a few days away?”

Barbara pulled the bowl of candy closer to them.“It’s exciting and sad.I haven’t lived with my sisters for so long that I’d forgotten how much fun they are. When Penny leaves, it won’t be the same.”

“Wait until Diana…” Katie slapped her hand over her mouth.“Forget I said anything.”

Diana patted Charlie’s head.“Ethan and I aren’t moving to the other side of the country. We’ll be right here in Sapphire Bay.When you move to Los Angeles, you’ll be the person we’ll miss the most.”

Katie sighed.“I wish I could stay, but I can’t.What have you done today, Theo?”

“I interviewed Tess from The Bridesmaids Club. This time, I did it live instead of recording our conversation.”

Barbara dropped a handful of candy into a bag.“How did it go?”

“She was great.A lot of my listeners posted comments on our Facebook page about how much they enjoyed the interview.”

“I thought you weren’t checking your social media accounts?”

“You were right when you said ignoring people’s comments wouldn’t achieve anything.Yesterday, I went through all my accounts, deleted the posts that were from Steve McGibbons’ supporters, and replied to the ones that were related to the radio station.”

“How did that feel?”Diana asked.
