Katie laughed.“That’s what you say to everyone who brings you food.”

“Only if the food is as delicious as this cake.”

Penny sat beside Barbara.“If it weren’t for Katie, Wyatt and I might not be getting married. He enjoyed eating the fresh muffins she made each day.”

“Who wouldn’t?”Katie said.“Especially when you gave them to him.”

Barbara smiled and bit into the chocolate cake. With a groan of delight, she savored each mouthful.“If Penny brought me a slice of this chocolate cake each morning, I’d marry her, too.”

“If we’re talking about marriage, I have some news.”Penny grinned.“I’ve found the perfect bridesmaids’ dresses.”

“In Sapphire Bay?”Katie asked excitedly.

“No.Online.”

Barbara’s eyebrows rose.“Are you sure?What if they don’t fit?”

“The reviews are amazing. If they need any adjustments, Mom said she’d do them for us.I’ll show you the company’s website after you’ve finished the cake.”

“But your wedding is in two months. That doesn’t leave a lot of—”

“Don’t worry,” Penny said confidently.“It will be okay.”

Barbara hoped so.If the bridesmaids’ dresses weren’t as good as Penny thought they were, they could be walking down the aisle in their jeans and T-shirts.

THEO LISTENEDto the interview he’d recorded earlier in the day and frowned.Discussing the latest water restrictions in Polson might not seem like groundbreaking news, but it was important—especially if you lived anywhere around this side of Flathead Lake. When businesses were being asked to voluntarily close and houses were without water, alarm bells rang everywhere.

Using the editing software on his computer, he removed a segment of the interview. After making sure the conversation still made sense, he returned to the beginning of the clip and inserted the introduction.

When his cell phone vibrated, he checked the text message.Barbara had arrived.

Leaving his studio, he walked to the entranceway. She’d asked if she could visit the station and talk about advertising. He’d warned her not to expect too much.Creating a radio station from an old house wasn’t easy, but at least it was his.

Opening the door, he stared at the pretty brunette. If it weren’t for her sparkling green eyes, she could have been any one of the young, up-and-coming executives he used to see on the streets of New York City. But, unlike the jaded and often burned-out executives, Barbara looked relaxed and happy.

She straightened the cream jacket sitting above a pair of tan pants and held out her hand.“Hi, Theo.I hope it’s still a good time to visit?”

“It’s fine.Welcome to the official address of KZSB.”

“I’m looking forward to seeing what you do.Were you able to find more community radio stations on Instagram?”

“I did. Each of them had a slightly different approach to the content they posted.”

Barbara followed him into the house.“It’s all about branding,” she murmured as she looked above them.“I love your ceiling.”

“It’s pressed tin. When I was remodeling the house, I tried to keep as many original features as I could.Even though I’ve finished my work area, the rest of the house is still a work in progress.”

“Most older homes are.My sisters and I spent a lot of time remodeling the inn. There are still things we want to do, but time and money aren’t on our side. You were lucky to find this house. Most of the time there are only a few listings.”

“I realized that about a month after moving here.Even though this house needed a lot of work, I snapped it up before someone else did.The radio station is through here.”He led her along the hallway.“I converted these bedrooms into my office and studio. My private living area is farther along the hallway.”

Barbara looked inside his office.“It’s a big room, but it still feels cozy.”

“I want people to feel relaxed when they come to speak on the radio. That meant spending a lot of time choosing the big, colorful sofas and overstuffed chairs. All I need is a coffee machine and half of Sapphire Bay will want to be interviewed.”

Her eyes gleamed with laughter.“You could be right.A few people regularly visit the inn to see what we’re doing.I’m sure Katie’s muffins are a big part of the reason they arrive.”She looked through the large glass window separating the office from the studio.“Is this where all the magic happens?”

He checked to see if she was serious. The excitement on her face made him stand a little taller. He was proud of what he’d achieved, even if the station was on the verge of closing.“I don’t know about magic, but it’s where I interview people and host the program.”
