I was out so hard, I didn’t even feel her stir beside me. Fuck, did she walk? Or did she have one of her friends come and get her? I have no way of knowing. I didn’t get her number or even a last name, so I have no way of making sure she got home safe. No fucking clue as to where she lives. Fuck, I have no way of getting in touch in case I want to see her again.
I drop back, rubbing my eyes, feeling the soreness in my entire frame. Man, that was some night. I’ve never met a woman like Payton before. She rocked my world. Made me completely forget all the shit that was on my mind last night. That girl left a lasting impression.
Damn, I sure as hell wish I’d gotten her number. I could use another round of her. Another dose of that pretty smile and that sexy body. Hell, just flirtin’ with her was fun. She played the game so well. Gave even better than she got. And man, does she know how to fuck. I couldn’t get enough of her. It wasn’t until I passed out from exhaustion that my dick went down. And now it’s right back up just thinking about her. I wish she were here. I need it bad.
My phone starts buzzing somewhere in the truck and I drag myself over to get it from my jeans.
“Yo, what’s up?” My voice rasps out, sounding like I smoked one too many cigarettes last night. I think the culprit is how many times I shouted her name as the orgasms plowed through me.
“Dude, where are you?” Bones barks into the line. “You’re supposed to be here getting ready for the wedding.”
Shit! I completely forgot. Dagger’s getting married today.
“I’m on my way,” I bark into the line then hang up. I get my ass dressed and get back on the road. Needing to make time. But as I drive the town, I slow down, finding myself looking at every person I pass, searching the streets for Payton. Searching for that sexy cowgirl who blew my fucking mind.
I don’t understand why the girl didn’t even wake me to say goodbye. I know I wasn’t the only one who had a good time last night. She was drunk on my cock and couldn’t get enough. I’d be trying to recover, and she’d be latching onto the end with those full lips and trying to suck the life out of me. Yet, here I am,feeling like I’m doing the walk of shame. Driving off, knowing I’m never going to see her again.
Fuck. Don’t know what’s gotten into me. I know better than to get attached. I don’t do relationships.
As soon as I walk into the clubhouse, everyone’s giving me shit about staying out all night. They want to know the details, but I wave them off and go to my room to get showered and ready. I’m not telling them anything. Payton earned my respect, and I won’t be talking cheap about her. But if she were my woman, I’d be bragging to the rooftops and letting them stir in their envy.
“‘Bout time you showed up.” Bones comes walking into my room as I come walking out of the bathroom. “Almost had to send the prospects looking for your ass. Called your phone five times before you picked up. Figured you didn’t set an alarm.”
I sure as hell didn’t. I was too preoccupied. And I hadn’t even woken to his calls. That girl exhausted the life out of me. Usually, I wake to a pin drop. Armed and ready for war. But not this morning; I woke up feeling completely at ease. My body was relaxed and my brain was blank. It was a damn good feeling. Until… I realized that she’d taken off.
“So, are you gonna tell me where the hell you ran off to last night?” He crosses his arms, leaning against my wall.
“I met someone,” I grunt, buckling up the slacks of my tux.
“You met someone?” He sounds shocked. “Since when do you go running off with random girls?”
Since I met one I couldn’t resist. From the moment I saw her, I couldn’t shake the intense attraction. Then when she opened her mouth, I was all in.
“Shit. Who was she? Never seen that look on your face before.”
“Just a girl I met at the bar.” And I’m not sure what he’s seeing other than the frustration over me not knowing whethershe made it home safe. I don’t like worrying about whether she’s okay or not. She could’ve at least done me the courtesy of seeing her home so I wouldn’t fucking think someone snatched her off the side of the road.
“So, will you be seeing this mystery girl again?”
No. Because even if I wanted to, I didn’t get her number.
“Nah. She was just a fun distraction for the night.”
He crosses his arms, looking like a damn monkey in that tux he’s got on. Mine’s already chafing my nerves. I wish Dagger had chosen our leathers to walk down the aisle in, but he wanted to give Wynter the wedding of her dreams, so we all get to look like penguins.
“Based on the look on your face, I think you should reconsider. The girl may be worth your time.”
I turn away, putting on my cuff links to finish the look.
“I don’t need the headache. Besides, I didn’t get her number and don’t have a clue where to find her.”
“You know who you’re talking to, right?” He cocks his brow. “All I need is a name and I can get you every detail about the girl.”
I know he’s a computer genius and probably could deliver on that promise, but after the shit I’ve been through, I’m not going down that road again. One broken heart is enough in this fucking lifetime. And Payton… A girl as pretty as her is liable to have every man chasing her down. I don’t need to be spending my time wondering whether she’s gonna up and leave my ass as soon as a better offer comes along. And that girl will have multiple offers a day.
“I’m all set, man. But I appreciate it.”
“Yeah. Well, if you change your mind, you know where to find me.”
