I shut the door behind me and turn.
“Need you two on a job. I got a call from Tiny T this morning.”
Tiny T.He’s one of the founding brothers of the Venomous Vipers MC. Hung up his cut years ago after shit started going south. All the new blood moved in and took over. They changed order and their mission. Now, they’re all dangerous motherfuckers.
“His daughter has gone missing. She was last seen yesterday, and this morning, he found a note pinned to his door. The Vipers took her. They want him to turn over the name of our arms dealer so they can intercept our next shipment.”
Why the hell are those motherfuckers trying to start a war? The agreement has always been for them to stay on their turf, and we’ll stay on ours. The new Prez over there must have one hell of a death wish because there ain’t no way we’re gonna stand for that.
“Bones, I’m gonna need you to locate the girl and track their movements. And I’ll need you as my right, Cage. Skeeter, Raid, and Brick will be riding with us too. We need to ride out in an hour. The girl’s safety is on the line, and we can’t waste a fucking second. Oh, and grab your burners. We’re leaving all traceables behind.”
We both nod and then jump into action. No way in hell we’re gonna let those vicious fucks touch one hair on that girl’s head. Let’s just hope they haven’t already done worse.

“Still no word from him?”
I shake my head. Nope. The guy has ghosted me. He sent me a text, saying he would have to take a rain check on our date, and I haven’t heard from him since. After a week of silence, I’m guessing I won’t be hearing from him again.
“You know what I think.” Chassie’s voice pulls me out of the deep end of my self-doubt. “I think you say fuck him and we get dressed up and go dancing tonight. If the man thinks you’re going to be sitting at home waiting by the phone for him to call, he’s wrong. Besides, maybe you’ll meet someone else tonight. It never works out with the rebound guy anyway.”
Cage wasn’t a rebound guy. I was actually starting to believe he was the one. It was all happening crazy fast, but I’d never felt that way about anyone. Not even Callum. God, I sound ridiculous. I slept with the guy three times and I’m acting like alovesick fool. Just because we had some amazing sex and a few deep conversations, doesn’t mean the guy wants to marry me.
“You know what. I think you’re right.” And I think I’ll wear my red boots tonight. Fuck him.
“I need another drink. Want anything?”
Chass shakes her head and keeps shaking her little ass to her favorite song. At least one of us is having a great time. I feel like I’ve spent my entire night batting off creeps. What don’t they understand? A line dance is not a couples’ dance. You don’t grind up on a girl when she’s in the middle of the Cotton Eye Joe.
“What can I get you, gorgeous?”
“I’ll have tequila. Make that a double.”
The bartender pours me a hefty glass, giving me a wink. When I go to hand him my card to pay, he shakes his head. “It’s on the house. Maybe as a tip though, you could give me your number.”
For as good looking as he is, I probably should. I should take Chassie’s advice and fuck someone else to get over the wolf. But I don’t want to. Just the thought makes me sick.
“That’s awfully nice of you.” I smile. “Thanks for the drink. And as for my number, we’ll see how good the service is tonight.” I give him a wink, then toss the drink back and wipe my mouth, before I turn and make my way back to Chass, putting a little extra sway in my ass so at least the guy will serve me another drink in a bit. Right as I get to the floor, the music changes to a slow song. It’s time for the couples to take the floor. Which means I’ll be taking a seat.
It doesn’t look like Chassie will be joining me. She’s found herself a dance partner, so I make my way to a table and pull outmy phone, not wanting the guys to see it as an opportunity to come over and talk to me.
The missed message on my screen has my heart pounding.
Outlaw:Tried calling but you didn’t answer. Need to see you, Cowgirl. Can I come over?
Really? After a week of ghosting me, he’s just going to pop back up out of thin air and act like nothing happened. He expects me to just drop everything and be at his beck and call. At ten o’clock at night, it’s more like a booty call.
Me:Sorry, I’m out.
Outlaw:Out where?
Me:I’m out with friends.
Outlaw:When will you be back?
Me:Don’t know. Why?
