That brow of his narrows in further. “You sure that’s the reason? Or is it that girl you met last week that you’re after?”

He’s always been able to read me better than anyone else. I suppose being friends since we were little rugrats would do it.

“Come on.” I ignore his question. “I’ll buy you a drink.”

As soon as we walk into the bar, all heads turn. The women all perk up in their spots, flipping their hair and sticking out their chests, while the men seem to grow weary. We ain’t here to cause trouble. We’ll just grab a drink and be on our way. Then I need to forget this girl once and for all.

“What would you fellas like?” purrs the bartender. She leans forward across the bar trying to give me an eyeful of her tits, but I keep my eyes trained on hers. I have no interest. The only thing I need from her is a scotch.

“I’ll take your best scotch, and he’ll have a Johnny Walker Black.”

I turn toward the crowd, scanning through once more in search of the pretty brunette that I can’t stop thinking about, but she’s not here. She wasn’t outside either. I’m tempted to askthe bartender if she knows of her, but that’s just digging myself deeper.

“Thanks.” I slap a Benjamin on the bar top and turn to hand Bones his drink. His eyes are trained on his phone, and he suddenly looks pissed. “Let’s go out back for a smoke.” That way I can find out what’s goin’ on. Hope shit isn’t blowing up back at the club. I’m not eager about racing back up the mountain.

“You need a smoke, man?” I place our drinks down at a table with an open view to the dance floor then take a seat. He’s still typing away on his phone, not answering my question. I pull out a cigarette and take a drag, waiting until he lifts his head to tell me what the hell is going on. I scan the crowd as I wait, looking through all the women dancing up on the floor. None of them have moves like Payton. That girl could dance. None of them have a body like hers either. That girl… whew… Fucking fire.

“Fuck. Are you kidding me?” I whip my head around at the snap of his voice. “I’ve gotta go deal with something. You good gettin’ back by yourself?”

“You want to tell me what’s going on?” He’s been distracted all night. Never seen him play such a bad hand of cards before.

“The governor’s daughter ran off and he can’t find her ass.”

I should’ve known. That girl has managed to become his little obsession.

“You want me to go with you?”

“Nah. Need to handle this on my own.” In other words, he doesn’t want me there while he goes to sort his girl out. If he’s not careful, he’s gonna find himself in trouble. The governor isn’t gonna let his little princess get caught up with a Savage Knight. And that man pulls a lot of favors for us, as well as keeping our asses out of prison, so we can’t go fucking up that relationship.

“Just remember who it is you’re dealing with.”

“She’s nineteen, Cage. I’m not trying to rob the cradle. I’m just doing the man a favor.” And I call bullshit. Bones has the girl’s image as a screensaver on his computer. He’s turned into a regular damn stalker. Just as long as he doesn’t cross a line, all will be fine.

“You let me know if you need me.”

He tips his chin and then storms off, and I reach for his untouched drink before turning my attention back to the dance floor. I’m about to take a sip when I spot a flash of flowing brown hair, long tanned legs, a perfect round ass swaying to the beat, and those sexy little tits poking through a red tank top. She’s here. And damn, does she look good. She’s got on a short little jean skirt tonight along with some brown leather cowgirl boots, and my dick more than approves.

She swivels around with the rest of the crowd and then she’s facing me. Just like before, her eyes come right to mine. As if she senses me. That brow of hers cocks up the moment she sees me. Damn, I’m definitely gonna need another taste. I swallow back the contents of my glass then leave it on the table as I stand. She keeps up her little line dance, but her eyes stay locked on me, watching as I approach slowly.

The dancing crowd turns to face the opposite direction as I close in, and she turns right along with them. I reach out and snag her around the waist, pulling her back against me, catching her off guard. But I’ve got her. And damn does it feel good to have her in my arms again.

“What are you doing here, Outlaw?” She almost sounds out of breath, but I take it all those spins and shuffles will do it.

“Came looking for you, Cowgirl.”

She turns her head, biting down on that juicy red lip. The one that tasted so sweet.

“So, you’re stalking me now?” She winks.

Damn. Every time she opens her mouth, my cock spills seed in my drawers.

“Was worried about you. You disappeared on me, and I wasn’t sure whether you made it home safe.” I turn her in my arms, locking her right to me. “Didn’t like you takin’ off like that.”

“Well, you found me. I’m right here. Safe and sound.”

That she is. And she’s looking fine as hell.

“I think you need to make it up to me,” I state, hearing the gruffness in my throat. The heat I’m feeling is burning up my vocal cords.
