“Some people use them in medical play scenes,” she said, still looking at the device.

“Yes, some people do. I know how to use medical tools to delight particular areas of a person’s body, but I’d rather not. Not my kink.”

“Can we skip it?”

“No. An intense scene can have all sorts of effects on your body.” Shifting her slightly, I reached under the blankets. She quickly turned onto her back. Eloise probably thought that changing her position would prevent me from doing what I needed to do, but it didn’t. I simply grabbed her ankles and lifted them upward, knocking the blankets off.

“I’m just a little cold, Sir. You don’t need to check.”

“Better safe than sorry. It won’t take long.” Sliding the small tip into her tight pucker drew a low moan from her. I let her get more comfortable before inserting the thermometer deeper.

She squirmed against the cushion. “Mmm. It’s not as bad as I thought it would be.”

“From your reaction I’d say it’s not bad at all, princess.” I rubbed her upper thigh, offering comfort as I held the device between my fingers. “Almost done.” The thermometer beeped about a minute later and I removed it. Studying the number, I draped the blanket over her lower half with my other hand. “Much better. Do you want a bath before or after we pack your stuff?”

“Hm. Will you take a bathwithme?”

“Sure, princess.”

“Okay, bath then we pack? I’m overwhelmed by the thought of just leaving.”

“I’ll handle everything. Come on, babygirl.”

Lifting her up in my arms, I kept the blanket around her as we headed to her bathroom. Setting her down on the plush coral chaise, I cupped her cheek and kissed it before straightening up. Her tub could be featured in one of those fancy home and garden magazines my mother used to read. It was vintage-looking with a sleek modern faucet and claw-footed design.

“I’m sorry for letting things get so out of control, Daddy. I was overworking so much that no matter what I did, I couldn’t get my head on straight. That and fighting you this afternoon when you had my interests in mind. I’ll do my best to make sure it doesn’t happen again.”

“Don’t worry about it, beautiful girl. Are you feeling better?”

“Yes, I feel like a totally different person.”

“Good. I hope this feeling carries with you throughout our vacation so you can rest and recharge.”

“Thank you. Are you into primal stuff, or whatever the hell chasing me through my backyard would be called?”

“I’m not big on labels, but what we did could be considered primal play of sorts. Primal light,” I offered laughing.

“Huh? That sounds adorable and not like the intense rush that was flooding my body the whole time.”

“So, it was more about what you wanted to experience without ignoring your limits. You wanted to be forcefully stopped from what you were doing, picked up, carried off. You fought, but only because you felt safe enough to do so. You knew I wouldn’t do anything to hurt you.” I cupped her face with both hands. “The harder you fought, the easier it was for your body to surrender. Even as I pinned you down, you were the one in control.”

She nodded tearfully. Kissing her forehead, I stood and turned on the water adding bubble bath.

“Do you think I hit subspace so hard because it was rough, Sir?”

Leaning against the tub, I rubbed my chin thinking. “I think it’s a few things. Our bodies hold onto trauma. When I grabbed you, it may have dipped into some of the bad things you’ve experienced. But the safety and trust hopefully transmuted the anxiety and panic into pleasure. I’m not a professional when it comes to that side of things, but your body feels safe because I’m a safety net for you.”

Eloise held her arms to me and I set her gently into the tub before stripping and joining her. She eased herself into my arms, tracing her fingers over my biceps and along my chest.

She hummed contentedly. “You are so much more than a safety net, King. In a short amount of time you’ve become my rock, my partner… someone I rely on. If you find even a fraction of the amount of happiness that you bring me–” Her breath caught in her throat.

“Shh, princess. You don’t have to spell it all out. I’m fulfilled. Promise.” I kissed the crown of her head.

“And what about Reed?”

“Reed stopped the spiral he was stuck in. I may have had something to do with that.” I nibbled on her earlobe.

“I bet you did. He was so stuck in his head even when we were hanging out. This vacation is probably something we need, all three of us.”
