Then her fingertips skimmed over the laceration on his scalp and she wrenched her mouth away. “I’m so sorry,” she whispered, her dark eyes luminous with worry.

“Sweetheart.” His voice was scratchier than usual. “I can assure you the only thing I’m feeling right now is you.”

A half smile tilted up one side of her kiss-swollen lips as she gently ran her fingers over the bandage on his forearm. Then she pressed her free hand to the wound on her side. “We’re a pair, huh? Black and blue and bleeding?”

“Bruised but not broken.” He matched her half grin. “It’s not so bad given the alternative.”

That sleek right eyebrow of hers arched. “Who’s the optimist now?”

And there was that wit he admired so much. Although, the devilish sparkle was missing from her eyes.

He missed that sparkle. And since he didn’t know how to get it back, he decided to try to make her eyes shine with something else. Something that started with an O and rhymed withschmorgasm.

“Come here, woman.” He used the hand still wrapped in her hair to pull her forward. “Your mouth hasn’t been on mine for the last thirty seconds and that’s far, fartoo long.”

She didn’t resist when he pulled her forward that last inch. And just like before, their kisses were anything but meek and mild. Within seconds he’d made good on his words and was feeling nothing but her, was focused on nothing but her.

“Dalton.” Her breath was warm and sweet as she pulled away slightly. “Help me forget this day.”

“What do you want, Cami?” He nipped her bottom lip, sucking it into the heat of his mouth so he could lave the lush pad with his tongue. “Tell me.”

“I want to not have to think.” Her husky voice swirled around in his ears, and he understood the sentiment entirely. He wanted to forget the day too. Forget the gore. Forget the fear. Forget thedeath. “I just want to feel,” she added.

He would make her feel.

He’d make her feel every inch of her delicious body as he explored it with his hands and mouth. He’d show her all the ways he’d learned to give pleasure to a woman. And he wouldn’t stop until there wasn’t a thought left in her head save for bliss and delight and sheer, soul-shaking carnality.

“Your wish is my command,” he assured her before reclaiming her lips.

He wasn’t sure how long they stayed that way, her straddling his lap, their mouths eagerly testing and tasting and coming back for more, more, always more. All he knew was that the feverish undercurrent that’d been running below his surface since the first moment he met her jumped its banks and became a flood.

He was caught up in it. Swept away by it. Lost in the power of his want of her. Hisneedfor her.

When she tilted her hips forward, riding the hard edge of his erection, he slid his hands inside her ridiculous borrowed boxer briefs and palmed her ass, loving the way her ample flesh overflowed his grip. Loving how each luscious globe was warm and firm.

Ignoring the urge to knead, instead he simply held her, his fingertips ten perfect pressure points, and encouraged her to ride him.Slowly.A gentle bump and grind that was as old as time.

“Dalton.” Her voice caught on pleasure he knew bordered on pain. He knew it because he was experiencing the same thing. The friction of their sexes grinding together was eye-crossing, and yet it wasn’t enough.

“Don’t rush,” he whispered against her lips. “Let’s take this as far as we can. As slowly as we can.”

She made a mewling sound in the back of her throat that was half acquiescence and half disagreement. And he understood that too. Because for every atom in his being that wanted to drag this thing out, to savor every moment and relish every subtle sensation, there was another atom that said,Fuck going slow. Take her! Take her now! End this delicious misery!

He was deliberate as he grabbed the hem of her borrowed T-shirt, trailing his fingers along her ribs as he bunched it higher, higher, higher still. He pulled back from the kiss only long enough to tug the material over her head and watch her luxurious curtain of jet-black hair tumble down around her shoulders. Then her mouth was on his again.

He’d only gotten a glimpse of her simple bra. But it was enough to show him that with breasts like hers, plain cotton was as sexy as see-through lace.

The way she filled out the cups? The way her cleavage beckoned for the glide of his tongue? The way her dark nipples peeked through the film of the fabric?

Fuuuccckkk. It was the very definition of seduction.

With trembling fingers, he pulled each of her bra straps off her shoulders, letting them dangle down her arms. His hands weren’t shaking from nerves but from anticipation and the effort it took to hold back from ripping the white cotton clean off her body in a brutal show of force.

She did that to him. Tore away his restraint. Burned off his self-discipline. Turned him into a beast whose only goal was to conquer and claim.

Passion was never something he’d lacked. He loved everything about a woman’s body. Everything about the act of physical intimacy. But Cami took his passion and added in a generous helping of jet fuel until the wordpassionwasn’t big enough to describe what he felt.

Cravingmaybe?Unbridled wantonness?
