As we followed the chick, I had to admire the decor going into the building. There were flowers everywhere, balloon arches, water fountains, and a lot of rich people shit. Louis Vuitton giftsbags with gold envelopes sticking out were on a table with small blue Tiffany’s boxes in front of each one.
Walking into the ballroom the colors were black and gold. There were gold plates and silverware and the buffet table had gold chafing racks. The waiters walking around with appetizers and drinks wore black and gold uniforms to match the theme.
The gold flower centerpieces were beautiful and so was the tall golden angel sculpture that had chocolate coming out the mouth. There were so many other things that I couldn’t even explain what they were. I’ve never seen anything like it and started taking pictures to show my mom.
“Miss Coleman, your table is over here.” A waiter said.
“How do you know my name?” I asked, walking behind him with Sariah next to me.
“Miss Jackie pointed you out. Here you go.” He pulled the chair out for me and then Sariah. Glancing at the table, I didn’t want to touch a thing. What if I broke something or knocked a glass over?
For the next hour, me and Sariah sat at the table alone. We noticed no other names were here and had no problem sitting alone especially since we didn’t know anyone. Sariah literally ate off of every sample the waitresses brought around.
“Who are those people?” I pointed to some men walk in along with older women. We still hadn’t seen Raul or Cairo and every seat was just about taken except the ones in the front which were probably for family.
“Ok everyone. Stand up and let’s sing Happy Birthday to Mrs. Romano.” Just as he said it, the Stevie Wonder version of the song came on and everyone started to sing. I vaguely remembered his mom but I can honestly say she was a beautiful woman and Cairo’s father was just as handsome.
“Damn are all the men in the family gorgeous?” Sariah asked what I was thinking. Everyone who walked in with his mom all wore the same type of clothing.
“I don’t know but where’s Cairo. I’m surprised he didn’t come in.” Searching with my eyes around the room, he was nowhere in sight.
“That’s because he just walked in and every chick who’s probably not related have goofy eyes for him.” She pointed and I swear my breath was taken away. Cairo was beyond sexy and dressed in all black with the gold mixed in made him even sexier.
“Ain’t no way in hell he’s gonna take me home with all those bitches stalking him.” I gulped down the cranberry and vodka drink and slammed down the glass.
“Let me find out you’re jealous.” My face was tight seeing all those women in his.
“Whatever.” I waved her off and told my mom to save room for me on the couch. We always stayed in there on the weekend.
“I think he noticed you.” Sariah was smirking as I looked up. When me and Cairo’s eyes met, he mouthed the words,Come here.I damn near fell out the chair to get over there.
CHAPTER 19
Cairo
As soon asI walked in the bitches flocked to me like bees to honey. During the preparation of the party, I remember telling Jackie and all the women in the family not to invite any of their friends because I knew what would happen. I’m far from conceited but I also knew women fantasized over me. They either wanted my money or kids and to this day I haven’t given it to anyone.
Well, Victoria did get money but I cleared out all her bank accounts, even ones she assumed I knew nothing about. I also returned all items that still had tags on them. Rosalina and some of my cousins took all of Victoria’s old clothes, shoes and purses to the goodwill. I made sure to get a tax write off paper because they making hella money in those places which should be illegal. How were they even allowed to put price tags on items that got donated? I gave zero fucks as long as any remnants of her were gone.
Anyway, I wasn’t at the hall yet when Kateri arrived but Jackie sent me a photo and I must say it did her no justicebecause my dick was twitching watching her walk towards me. The dress was fitted perfectly and showed off her shape. The shoes made her a tad bit taller and to be honest, Kateri looked beautiful tonight and there was no other way to say it.
When she stopped in front of me, her perfume overpowered the four chicks standing there and her smile made her entire appearance even more sexy. Grabbing her hand in mine, I led her out the door. Stopping by the patio door, I lifted her hand and turned her in a circle to get a birds eye view.
“You look good as fuck in this cheap ass outfit.” Her facial expression displayed anger. Snatching her hand away, she backed up.
“How do you know I didn’t spend a lot of money on my outfit?” Was she serious?
“How much was the dress?” When she said twenty dollars, I started laughing because I was right.
“Every person in here has money and I can tell you, that nothing they’re wearing cost less than five hundred to a thousand dollars; including a belt. Even those bitches next to me probably spent their paychecks just to wear expensive shit to be here in hopes I’ll want them.” She folded her arms across her chest.
“Well do you?”
“As of right this second, no but I’ll have to see later. I mean, what if you kill me telepathically before the night ends.” Her laugh wasn’t loud but it made me smile.
“My mother always said it didn’t matter how much money a person had when it came to their wealth. The only thing that did matter was making do with what they had and if it made them happy. Are you happy with your life?” I asked wanting to learn more about her.
“Actually I am. Money is good and can buy happiness from what some say but not being wealthy is good too.”
