CHAPTER 1

Secrets
“Are you crazy?”My sister Gabby yelled, pulling me away from Glenn. She barged in the hotel room with the extra key I gave her. She had been calling me nonstop but I was busy with my friend.
Me and Glenn were in my room kissing after just fucking like animals. It was a bold move from me but it was the last time we were going to be together; at least that’s what we told one another. After tomorrow it would definitely be a lot harder to sneak away.
“Get the fuck out!” She screamed at him as her hands were pushing him in the back to leave the hotel room.
“I’ll call you in a few.” Glenn laughed saying it. Gabby slammed the door in his face, locked it and stormed over to me.
WHAP!She smacked me so hard my face turned. I pushed her away from me because fighting wasn’t an option right now. Neither one of us needed any bruises or scratches on us,especially before tomorrow. Questions would be asked about why we fought and I wouldn’t have an answer.
Gabby was much bigger than me and beat my ass quite a bit growing up but I’d still throw hands with her if need be. I usually didn’t because I’m only 125 pounds so not only would my hits not affect her; she’d probably whoop my ass worse. I took that shit like always and walked into the bathroom to make sure there was no mark left before tomorrow.`
“Why didn’t you just leave him like I told you to a long time ago?” It always aggravated me that she’d want to talk after hitting me.
“Leave who? Glenn?” I pretended not to know who she spoke of.
“Cairo, Bitch. Do you have any idea what he will do to you if he found out about Glenn? What he would do to us; you know the family you’re putting at risk by sharing your pussy with a wanna be rapper.” She started pacing in the bathroom.
Glenn was one of the security guys Cairo hired to keep me safe. We were the same age and had a lot in common. Cairo was three years older than me and very mature, experienced and wise for his age. Many times he has said I needed to grow up. In my defense, I couldn’t help being younger or the fact that he didn’t have a fun childhood from what he said.
Anyway, Glenn was an up and coming rapper who did shows whenever he wasn’t with me. I’m not into rap so I couldn’t really say if he were good or not. All I know is people knew who he was and he had groupies too.
Long story short, one night me and Cario had a fight after coming back from some event he had to attend. Well, I cursed him out as he stood there smoking his cigar ignoring me as usual. Anytime I’d call myself going off, he’d light that nasty thing, stare at me for a few seconds and tell me toshut the fuck up.Of course I would at the moment but he’d be getting cursedout like crazy in my head. A few times, I would punch him in the face but again, that was in my head too.
See, Cairo wasn’t an ordinary type of man. Nor was he some fake kingpin, drug dealer or connect. He was theDONfrom what the streets called him. He was so damn powerful that the connect had to ask him to distribute anywhere in the US. And from what I’m told this was the rule in a couple of other countries too.
Cairo had presidential type of power that any real boss wanted and couldn’t get. I mean he had a security team of twenty and that’s just when we went out. The ones at his house, on his street and checking stores, restaurants, hotels, events and even friends’ houses were always on point too.
In order for someone to get Cairo it would have to be an inside job because his security was extremely tight and the loyalty within his team ran deep. Well, except for Glenn who didn’t care and enjoyed playing with fire.
“Are you listening to me?” Gabby yelled, making her voice echo off the walls in the bathroom. Looking in the mirror and seeing the red mark on my face forming pissed me off but again, I knew better and left it alone.
“That nigga has killed people for lesser things and you had the audacity to cheat on him.” I couldn’t understand why she was worried when I wasn’t.
Me and Glenn have been sleeping together for a few months now and were very careful. Even with the security guards he had around me, we still managed to be together. If Cairo even thought me and Glenn were having sex we would’ve been dead by now.
“Relax Gabby. I’m supposed to be having a great time before tomorrow and you’re yelling and screaming about minor things.” Turning the bathroom light off, I walked out and into the living room area of the penthouse suite Cairo put me in. Therest of the bridesmaids were on lower floors due to having to pay for their own rooms. They could never afford to stay in a place like this. The only reason they could for this weekend was because of Cairo who had the manager put the rates down to what they could afford.
“What are you doing?” I asked Gabby. She was doing all this hand movement and kissing up to God. We were never religious people so she was confusing me.
“Praying for God to have mercy on your soul and for Cairo to spare us when he finds out about your infidelity.” She placed a kiss on my forehead, shook her head and left. I was happy too because she was getting on my damn nerves.
“Wow! You look beautiful.”My dad gushed over me in the wedding dress I had custom made and flown in from Italy. Cairo never cared how much money I spent, therefore I went all out on this dress. It was a few hundred thousand and worth every damn penny.
“Thanks Daddy.” I kissed his cheek and took a seat at the vanity as my mother placed the tiara veil on my head. As she did, I glanced at myself in the mirror and I must say, Cairo was going to lose his breath when he saw me.
“It’s almost time.” Gabby came rushing in the room. All of us turned around and she seemed to be embarrassed.
“What’s wrong?” My dad questioned making his way to where she stood.
“Nothing, why? I was just saying it’s almost time because the limos pulled up.” Squinting my eyes to make sure they weren’t deceiving me; I saw a hickey on her neck.
“Gabby, did you have sex last night with someone?” You heard everyone in the room gasp when my mother asked the question.
