“What Dire Wolf?” Josiah exclaimed. “They’ve been extinct for hundreds of years!”
“No, I assure you they are very much alive. Thank you for your cooperation. I look forward to hearing from you. Good-bye, Alpha,” Slate said, hanging up.
Slate slumped back in his chair, exhaling heavily.Gods, how I managed to speak to that asshole with a civil tongue is beyond me.After calming down, he placed a call to Steel and Penn informing them of the outcome.
Chapter 32
“Jackson, are you ready yet?” yelled Steel from the bottom of the stairs. He was eager to get going because it was finally time to romance his mate with the fantastic babymoon he’d planned. For the first time since he met Jackson, there wasn’t a kill order hanging over his mate. And if he had anything to say about it, there never would be again.
Slate had received the documents from the Silver Point Pack and Penn filed them with the High Council to begin building a case against their Alpha. Penn also assured Jackson and Steel the High Council would punish Silver Point Alpha if, for some reason, he broke the rules concerning the kill order. That last piece of information didn’t give Steel the total comfort he wanted but at least his mate could now appear openly in public and not worry about being hunted. He knew there still would be a battle in the future, but he would take the peace right now while his mate was pregnant.
“Be down in a minute,” Jackson called. He was packing the last few items in his suitcase while Logan sat on the bed. “Do you have any questions about the nursery you need to ask me before I leave?” Jackson asked his brother.
“No, I’ve told you, I’ll be busy on a different project while you’re gone,” Logan replied. “I’ll have plenty of time to do the nursery after you get back from your babymoon. Any idea where Steel is taking you?”
“Nope, he won’t tell me. I tried everything. Why, last night when I was…”
“No, no, no, TMI, TMI,” blurted out Logan as he covered his ears. “I donotneed to know anything that goes on in your bedroom, understand?”
Jackson burst out laughing, then smirked. “Got it. Anyway, to answer your question, no I haven’t a clue. Lordy, that man can keep a secret like nobody’s business. All I know is we’re leaving here by helicopter.”
“Wow, I haven’t ever flown in one of those.”
“Me either. But I’m looking forward to it. Listen, I told our brothers that you’re in charge while I’m gone. If you have any problems, call Mystia. She’ll make sure the boys toe the line.”
“I’ll be fine, we’ll be fine. Stop worrying and go have a good time. You deserve it. I’ll be waiting to get a full report from you when you get back—minus any bedroom information,” Logan said, grinning.
“Jackson, babe, please hurry,” shouted Steel impatiently.
“You’d better go or your mate will come up here and drag you down,” snickered Logan. “Let me carry your suitcase for you.”
As they walked down the hall, Jackson put his arm around his twin’s waist, pulling him in for a one-armed hug and murmuring, “I love you, bro, and thanks for all your help and support.”
“I love you too,” Logan replied. “Just promise me you’ll enjoy yourself and not worry about anything else.”
“I’ll try,” answered Jackson as they descended the stairs.
Steel looked up at Jackson coming down the stairs. The love Steel felt for his mate overwhelmed him. He reached out for Jackson’s hand, pulling him to his chest, leaning down to caress Jackson’s soft, pliable lips with his own. “You look gorgeous. Let’s hope I don’t have to fight off advances from other men.”
Jackson deepened the kiss and when his mate’s lips opened a sliver, he thrust his tongue in, entwining it withSteel’s. Everyone around them was forgotten as the soul mates got lost in their love for each other. Steel started grinding his hard cock against his mate’s as they breathlessly consumed each other’s mouths. Jackson felt the heat rising in his body, wanting to be taken by Steel when something penetrated his lust fog—the clearing of several throats.
Jackson’s teeth sunk into Steel’s lower lip, holding it as he separated from him. Finally, he released it, looking with passion-filled eyes at his mate, whispering, “Till later, babe.”
Shit, Steel realized he was so lost in the need for his mate he would have fucked him in front of everyone. He looked around, seeing various smiles, grins, leers, and smirks from his parents and Jackson’s brothers, and felt a blush fall over his cheeks. “I—ahh, think we’re ready to leave now,” Steel mumbled, reaching for his mate’s hand.
The couple was smothered with “good-byes” all the way to a clearing near the house where the chopper sat. Noticing how small it was, Jackson nervously asked Steel, “Are we going to be safe in that—that thing? Maybe we should drive.”
“Babe, it’s very safe. And it’s bigger than you think—it seats seven passengers and we use it all the time. So, trust me,mo chroí,I would not have you and our pup flying in an unsafe helicopter. Come on,” Steel said, pulling Jackson toward the man who was standing next to it.
“Hi, Robert, good to see you again,” Steel said, shaking the man’s hand. “This is my mate, Jackson.”
“Glad to seeyou, sir,” Robert replied, looking at Jackson. “Very happy to meet Mr. Valentin’s mate, sir.”
“Please, call me Jackson.”
“Have you ever flown in a helicopter, Jackson?” asked Robert.
“No.”
