I've really fucked up.
"Hey, it's okay. Come here," Dom says softly, grabbing a hold of my arm and dragging me onto his chest. "I'm not leaving you here this time."
A tear spills down my cheek as guilt hits me tenfold.
He thinks I'm upset and worried because of the last time he left, but that's not what's making me cry.
What he doesn't realise is that I've made ahugemistake.
I've given Lenny information that could hurt Dom, and possibly damage his life, all because I was convinced he didn't care and was an arsehole to me.
Now, I know he was trying to push me away on purpose, hiding what he really felt.
"I need to get my phone," I tell him, moving to sit up again, desperately wanting to message Lenny in the hopes of stopping what I've set in motion, but Dom pulls me back down, banding his arms around me.
"Just lie with me for a while. Please."
His tired, soft tone has me melting into him, even as tears continue to stream down my cheeks.
He rubs his hand along my bare back and presses a kiss against the top of my head.
"I'm sorry, little viper."
"I am too," I whisper, my tears dripping onto his chest as guilt and regret churn my stomach.
Chapter Thirty-Five
Alicia
The next morning, I wake in a panic, light streaming across the room from the open curtains behind the bed, and cold, empty sheets beside me where Dominic was lying last night.
"Shit."
Rubbing my eyes, I jump out of bed, a cold breeze swooshing over my naked body, reminding me of my lack of clothes.
Groaning, I rush over to Dom's wardrobe and yank a top off the hanger, shoving it over my head.
As I'm pulling it down my body, my eyes scan the room, and I spot a piece of paper on the nightstand.
I quickly snatch it up, my eyes roaming the words scrawled across it.
Had to run, got a busy day. I've walked Jelly and fed her. Leo will be downstairs if you need anything. I'd prefer for you not to go out, but if you choose to, you can. Just please let me know. I'll be home late, don't wait up. Make sureyou're in my bed though ;)
Worrying my lip between my teeth, I press the note against my chest and close my eyes, sighing.
I've really fucked up.
Taking the note with me, I move across the room, through the bathroom, and into my room, putting the note in my nightstand drawer and then fumble for my phone that's sitting on my bed.
Ignoring the messages from my sister and the group chat with the girls, I click on Lenny's contact and hurriedly type out a message.
Alicia:
Turns out my info was bogus. Sorry. Will find you something worthwhile soon.
As I wait for him to reply, I move over to my wardrobe, grab a pair of jogging bottoms, and slide them up my legs.
As I pick up a pair of socks, my phone vibrates, and I drop the socks to the floor, scrambling for my phone on the shelf, and feeling my stomach sink as I read his reply.
