Thinking about a man who tied her into place and ran his hands all over her body.Who took control of her completely.Who pinched her nipples until they hurt, then used her for his pleasure, causing her own as he did so.

A man with Mason’s face.

She cried out as she came, shuddering and clenching, panting for breath as the strongest orgasm she’d ever had rolled over her in a hot wave of pleasure. And as soon as the sweet ecstasy receded, the guilt set in.

But it wasn’t like he or Yasmine knew who she was picturing while she got herself off.Audrey let out a long breath as she lay there in the darkness, staring up at the ceiling.

Tomorrow.Tomorrow, she would get her head on straight.Focus on her bakery. And maybe think about dating.Clearly, she needed to do something about lusting after a taken man. That wasn’t who she was, and she refused to be that girl.

ChapterEight

Mason

“What do you think, Mason?”

Mason jerked in his seat around the conference table, his gaze going to the picture of Royce Macleod and Marshall Devlin that was on the screen in front of the team. They’d been talking about Royce MacLeod entering the race for governor and hiring Devlin as his head of security.

Devlin, who used to be the third partner at Black Fox Security, before Lincoln and Harris realized he was sleeping with Lincoln’s first wife and stealing from the firm. They’d taken back control of all the business and financial aspects he’d been handling and removed him from the firm at the same time Lincoln had served his first wife with divorce papers.

He had practically announced he was coming for Black Fox over the past few weeks by badmouthing them, trying to poach team members, and then—after getting nothing but refusals—sending black roses to everyone’s house in the lead-up to the announcement of his new position.A huge bouquet of them had been delivered to the office on that day.

Since then, nothing.

But they all knew it was a threat.

Which they were currently trying to assess.

As Mason stared at the picture, he could not for the life of him remember what had actually been said before his opinion was requested.

“Um…” he said, trying to stall, which caused a round of snickers from the rest of the team.Even Lincoln, who had asked the question, smirked at him.“Sorry, I missed what we were talking about.”

“He’s too busy dreaming about his wedding already,” Drew teased, making everyone laugh.

Jensen raised his eyebrows.

“Shouldn’t that be his wedding night?”

“It can be both.”

“Focus, gentlemen,” Lincoln chided them, though he was still smirking.

Mason let out a long, slow breath. He hadn’t been thinking about Yasmine at all. He’d been thinking about a certain redhead and wondering what she was doing. How setting up her bakery was going. If she’d done any research into kink yet and what she thought. It was Tuesday morning after the party. She probably had.Unless she wasn’t interested at all.

Focus, Mason.

It didn’t matter to him whether or not Audrey was interested in kink.He needed to start working on dreaming about his wedding. And his wedding night.Because right now, all he pictured was him and Yasmine sitting and talking, the way they’d done when they’d gotten together to talk about marriage.

“Lincoln pointed out that Devlin is not normally known for his patience and wondered if it’s possible that MacLeod is reining him in.Or possibly keeping him too busy to come for us,” David updated Mason.

Beside him, Claudia played with a pen between her fingers, staring at the screen on the wall with such intensity, it was amazing it didn’t catch on fire.

“It’s always possible,” Mason said.“On the other hand, I think it’s also possible he’s more patient than we ever gave him credit for.He was doing a lot of work behind the scenes we never knew about, after all.Though he did get rushed and sloppy toward the end, we can’t judge him solely on that.”

“True.”Lincoln nodded. His smirk had faded, and he tilted his head as he looked at the screen, his eyes dark as he studied the face of his ex-best friend and business partner.“Any thoughts on what’s motivating him?”

That was something Mason had been considering ever since they’d found out Devlin was behind the black roses being sent to the team and that he had a new, powerful employer.Even before that, Devlin had been trying to poach staff and clients and badmouthing them around town.

Keeping quiet and above it all was doing them some good with the people who weren’t into dramatics, but of course, there were always the people who leaned into the drama.
