“On the access road to Shipwreck Cove—” She bit back a scream when the truck suddenly accelerated and swung out beside her on the left.Yanked the wheel right to avoid a collision, but metal crunched as the truck scraped along her side of the car.

“Willow, what’s happening?”Tripp demanded.

“He’s pushing me toward the shoulder!”

“Get away from him.”The command came out like a whip cracking.

“I’m trying!”If she stopped, he could keep pushing her.If she tried to turn around, he would just chase her to the dead end at the parking lot.

She had to get past him to the highway. It was her only chance.

“Keep going, do whatever you have to do to get clear.I’m on my way, almost there.”

She opened her mouth to respond, but the truck suddenly pulled even with her again. Before she could utter another word, it rammed into her side and spun them hard to the right.

Willow pinned the brake pedal to the floor, but it was useless.“No!”

“Willow—”

Her tires slid even as she cranked the wheel the other way, the inertia too great to overcome.

The car veered toward the edge of the road, the yawning abyss ahead framed by the windshield. She stood on the brake pedal as the vehicle slowed but kept sliding. The front tires reached the edge of the road, and the vehicle finally stopped. She gripped the wheel, panting.

“Willow, talk to me,please.”

“Help,” she choked out.“Oh my God, please help—” The hood dipped as the vehicle slipped a few inches.

Her primal scream of terror cut through the air as the front left corner tipped down, leaving the car dangling on the edge of the cliff.

“W

illow!”Tripp shouted, his knuckles white from clenching the steering wheel.

She didn’t answer. There was no sound at all on the other end, her shrill scream cut off as though it had been severed by a blade.
