Sadie

The terror she felt as she watched Tinker stab Jed was nothing like she’d ever known. She’d screamed as pain ripped through her so visceral it was almost like she’d been the one who was stabbed. The pain etched on his face as he grunted and bent forward was something she would never forget.Oh God, please don’t let him die, she prayed.

Then Tinker turned his attention on her.He untied her and warned her that if she tried anything, he would take care of her baby situation for her.Once she was free he demanded that she strip.Jed had nodded for her to go along with it, reminding her to do whatever she had to in order to survive. But could she allow this vile man to rape her?Could she allow him to do it in front of Jed?That was the point, wasn’t it?For Jed to suffer as he watched the woman he loved be violated?

He threw her to the couch, his heavy body pinning her down. She turned her head to avoid his stale, smoky breath.“Get off me, you son of a bitch.”She pushed against his chest, unable to get him to budge.

This can’t be happening. This can’t be happening.Maybe if she told herself this over and over, she might believe it.

“Settle down, bitch!”The knife fell to the floor as he wrestled both her arms above her head, pinning them in his tight grip.

She bucked her hips and thrashed her head, screaming at the top of her lungs.

He grabbed her roughly by the chin, squeezing until she was forced to look at him.“I.Said.Settle down.”He growled through clenched teeth.“If you keep fighting me, I’m going to be forced to stab Jed again.Understand?”

Unable to respond, she nodded her head.

“Good.”He released his hold and tapped her cheek, not so gently.“I’ve been wanting to do this for a very long time.”As much as she wanted to fight giving him what he wanted, she screamed in agony as he groped her boob painfully hard. The fucker got off on hurting her.

Her heart hammered in her chest as she registered the outline of his hard cock pressing against her leg.She knew she had promised Jed she would do whatever it took to survive until the club got there, but the thought of allowing him to violate her wasn’t something she could do.She’d rather die.It broke her heart that it wasn’t just her life that was at stake, but also that of her unborn child. But how could she not fight back?

She knew what she had to do.

She let herself go limp like she was too exhausted to fight him any longer, then waited until he reached down to unfasten his jeans before she made her move. She screamed as the injustice of everything she’d been through over the last several months settled in her soul. She’d already been forced to take a drug by the Phantoms and have sex with a stranger, but she wasn’t going to go through this, too.She leaned up and sank her teeth into the side of his neck, biting down as hard as she could.Tinker’s blood filled her mouth as he wildly fought to free himself. He yanked on her hair.He punched her in the side of the head. She still wouldn’t let go.He grabbed her boob and squeezed until she let go with a shout.Turning to the side, she spit out the blood before she choked on it.Once free, he backhanded her so hard, he knocked her half off the couch.

From her position, she spotted his knife on the floor where it fell and reached for it.She twisted at the waist to sink the knife into his chest. His eyes rounded in surprise.Clutching at the knife, he scrambled to stand up, only to fall over as the one leg he managed to keep under him gave out.He gasped and struggled for breath as his wild eyes watched her come to stand over him.Her breath still heaving in and out, she smiled as she pulled the knife from his chest.

He screamed in agony, his hand falling limply to his sides. Was it wrong that she enjoyed the sound of his pain? She didn’t fucking care.

“Not so tough now, are you?”Still naked, she straddled his chest and held the knife to his throat.“This ends now.”She dragged the knife across his throat from one side to the other, blood spraying out everywhere, covering her as well.It wasn’t until the light slowly faded from his eyes that she felt any real sense of relief.Did she regret killing the man who had done nothing but make her life a living hell? Not for a single fucking second.

Jed!She crawled through his and Tinker’s combined blood to get to him.“Oh God!”His chest was barely moving. The amount of blood surrounding Jed’s chair frightened her.Feeling for a pulse, she almost wept with joy when she found it.It was there, but barely. She needed to free him and lay him on the floor before she looked for her phone to call for help. She started sawing at the ropes confining him to the chair when the front door burst open, a cold rush of air chilling her to the bone.

She hurried to her feet, holding the knife in a tight grip, prepared to defend herself and Jed against whoever was coming through that door.No one was getting near him in his weakened state. She’d kill them just like she killed Tinker. Her teeth started chattering, either from the cold blowing through the cabin or from the adrenaline rush.

Her heart sank as several men came through the door at once. She couldn’t take on all those men by herself.No.No.No.No.This wasn’t fair. She’d just fought her way free from Tinker, and now there were all these men.Why couldn’t she catch a break? She shook her head to clear it.It didn’t matter. They weren’t getting near Jed again. She held the knife at the ready. She swung at someone when they got a little too close. One man was trying to talk to her, but she wasn’t listening. She was in survival mode now.She didn’t recognize any of these men.All she knew was they were a threat.

She saw that a couple of the men were talking, but she couldn’t hear what they said.Though they looked familiar, she wasn’t sure she could trust them. They all looked like she should know them, but her mind was fuzzy. She’d been through so much, her head was starting to hurt as it processed everything going on around her.

“She’s in shock.Give her a minute,” a man carrying a medical bag standing in front of two paramedics spoke up.He looked familiar, but the fog was clouding her ability to remember how she knew him.

The group of men started slowly fanning out around her.Her heart raced at the possibility that they might hurt Jed.She couldn’t let that happen.Where was that gun?Her gaze dropped to where she last saw it.

“Sadie!”the big man in front shouted her name. She jerked her gaze in his direction.“Sadie.It’s me.Darren.We’re here to help you, but you’ve gotta put down the knife.”He held his hands palm up in front of him.

She frowned.“Darren?”She rubbed her head, her headache was getting worse.

“Yeah, Sadie. It’s Darren. Can you give the knife to Jackson now? We’ve got Bacon and a couple of paramedics here. They need to take a look at Jed.You want Jed to get help, right?”

Bacon?He was a doctor, right?

She jumped as a firm male hand clamped down on her wrist. She blinked through the blood dripping in her eyes and saw Jackson.Calliope’s husband. He smiled at her and gently pried her fingers off the knife. When he got it free of her grip, he tossed it over to the side, far enough away that she couldn’t reach it again.

Darren hurried forward and caught her as she started to crumple to the floor. As all the events of the last few hours came crashing down on her, she started sobbing and rocking back and forth. She’d been so scared. She thought she and Jed were going to die.
