Because it won’t just be her climax. It’ll beours.

I hadn’t slept much.

I’d spent most of the night watching her. Thinking about how easily I could’ve made her mine. My dick still hard just from the memory of how she gasped when I kissed her neck. She rolled toward me, still sleepy, and tucked her head under my chin.

“This is the second day I’ve kept you in bed,” she mumbled.

I smirked, hand sliding down her back. “And I’m starting to think I want every day to be like this.”

She tilted her head up, looking up. “Careful, Crow. That almost sounded like love.”

“It sounded like fact,” I muttered.

She laughed, soft against my throat. Her leg shifted again and brushed my dick I exhaled sharply, jaw tightening.

She didn’t notice.

Or maybe she did.

My thoughts were already slipping back, my hand pinning hers, pushing into her pussy, the slow drag of her hips as —I forced a sharp inhale. Stopping my thoughts.

“Madeline, are you hungry? I can make you something.”

She pulled back to look at me.

“Or…” I said slowly, letting my hand trail over her hip, “we could go for another bath.”

She groaned into my chest. “God, you’re trouble.”

My phone buzzed on the bedside table again.

I grinned. “Just an offer.”

“You’re not funny.”

“A little funny.”

She kissed my chest. But then she moved. Sat up. And I felt the loss like a shot to the chest. She slid her legs out of bed slowly, pulling the edge of the sheet with her.

“It’s okay. Probably should let you get back to your life,” she said softly. “Right?” She glanced over her shoulder. “Your phone’s been going off all morning. The world misses you.”

I sat up against the headboard, watching her walk to the chair by the windows, the one she’d left her clothes on the night before.

“Don’t,” I wanted to beg. Fuck. I just wanted to keep her.

She turned.

“Don’t put that on,” I repeated. “Just come back to bed.”

“I can’t.”

“Why not?”

She walked back over to the edge of the bed, heels in her hand. “Because my life’s not paused. Neither is yours.”

“I’d pause it for you.”

She sat beside me and slipped on the heel slowly, then the other. I didn’t hide my stare.
