I laugh as I get out of the lift to enter my home expecting to find my girl waiting for me with my surprise and a lack of clothes, but she’s not here. She replies to my text before I have time to contact her.

With another laugh I reply.

My new office. Thank fuck my girl has finished it. I couldn’t be happier, and I am moving back in, maybe not tonight, but tomorrow. I want to be back in my own space and surrounded by all the things Olivia has selected for me. I release a short laugh as I open the front door and remember herMason is an arsemood board and wonder if she has gone for any of that.

My office door opens and Olivia slips out, rushing towards me, looking divine in a pair of well worn, faded jeans that finish at her knees and a sleeveless, check shirt, tied in a knot on her belly button, just hinting at her naked, flat belly that I intend to lick and kiss my way up later.

“Hey, baby.”

She nervously shifts from one foot to the other revealing her turmoil and I hope it’s simply about the office and not Mathers. “Your office is finished.”

“Can I see it?” I take a step forward.

“Yes. Maybe I need to blindfold you,” she muses and is actually looking around for a suitable covering.

“I hadn’t realised you had that particular kink,” I tease as she arches a disbelieving brow that only serves to make me laugh. “I will close my eyes if you’d rather and wait until you tell me I can look, scouts honour.” I offer a three-finger salute that makes her laugh now.

“I bet you weren’t even a scout, but I trust you to keep your word, so come here,” she instructs, and I comply, coming to a stop almost toe to toe with her. “Close your eyes and if you don’t like it, I can change it. I can’t believe you wanted no input, just a few ideas would have been useful or at least helped me to avoid pitfalls along the way…”

My girl is nervous and as she’s rambling. I briefly open one eye so that I can see her, look into her eyes as I attempt to reassure her, although I have briefly taken in the expanse of clear glass behind her and I seem to recall stressing my desire for my office to remain enclosed but I don’t want her to worry so remain silent on that, for now.

“Olivia, I am sure I will love whatever you’ve done. I trust you and you might just know me better than anyone ever has.”

Her eyes cloud with tears at my words which were simple and honest. I hadn’t even thought them through, I just said them because they were true.

“So now I am going to close my eyes again and wait for you to open the door and guide me through it. Then, when you’re ready you can let me know and I can see my new space, okay?”

“Yes, thank you.” She speaks softly as she takes my hand then I do as I said I would and close my eyes as she leads me forward.

Taking more steps than I’d anticipated it would require, I eventually pass through the door and it is difficult to keep my eyes closed, but as that is what I promised to do I manage it until Olivia comes to a halt and all I can hear is her rapidly nervous breathing.

“Keep your eyes closed, just a couple of minutes, please. Oh, and remember I can change anything you don’t like, anything at all.”

“No problem. You just say when you’re ready for me to open my eyes.” I have very few concerns that I won’t love the room as I love her style and more than that I love her. I am sure in the darkness behind my closed lids my inner voice actually rolls its eyes.

With Olivia’s anxiety rising my own increases too. What if she’s left my office completely open to the outside world or covered my amazing floor to ceiling windows with blinds, God, I’d hate that.

“Open,” she says in a blustery, breathless voice.

Slowly, I open one eye and then the other, focusing on Olivia who is sitting in front of me, perched on the edge of my desk and I force myself to look away, to take in my surroundings rather than being consumed by my girl and plans for dirty things.

“Wow.” I allow my first impression to sink in.

The huge window I have always loved is still uncovered, making me smile. My desk is positioned directly in front of it but it’s a new desk, possibly even bigger than my old one; it’s dark walnut, solid, sturdy and immediately gives the impression of control and dominance. The front of it is a complete contrast with caramel leather upholstery in rolls that soften the look just enough.

Seeing my smile, Olivia is edging off the desk and standing, revealing my new chair that is upholstered in the same leather as the desk front and it’s big, big and comfy looking.

Turning, I take in the walnut bookcases, filing cabinet and glass fronted display cabinets. Shifting from one foot to the other I notice the thick, cream pile of the carpet beneath my feet that covers this side of my office, but to the other side there’s a dark wooden floor that houses a leather sofa in the same shade as my other upholstery and a small, twelve place conference area.
