She smiled and immediately, without hesitation replied, giving him the three words he wanted to hear. “You own me.”

He’d enjoyed those words each time she’d said them and didn’t seem to tire of them until four thirty when she cried them for the final time that night.

Chapter 10

The morning sun was shining through at Tasha, making her squint when she realised it was actually early evening sun. She must have fallen asleep thinking about last night and Jim had indeed joined her and was still sleeping with her, his arms and legs entwined with hers. Looking down at her fingers that were also entwined with his made her smile, knowing that he would be happy that she was wearing his ring. She stifled a small giggle as she thought that sounded like a line from an old movie,Tasha is wearing Jim’s ring, but she was, she just needed to tell her grandparents and her siblings and as it was ten in the morning in London she could do that now.

She was rather pleased with herself when she got up from the bed having released herself from his limbs, seemingly without disturbing him.

She had got as far as the bedroom door before he spoke.

“And where do you think you’re going?”

Tasha turned to find him watching her with a slow and lazy smile. “Sorry if I woke you.”

“That’s okay. I was very tempted to wake you when I came up here, but you were fast asleep and I was actually tired.”

“Yeah, I was awake one minute and waking up the next.”

“Nice ring,” he smiled.

“I thought I should try getting used to it.” Nervously, she twisted the band around her finger feeling a little self-conscious.

“Yup.” He grinned his agreement and repeated, “So where do you think you are going?”

“I am going to call my grandparents to tell them that I’m getting married.” She smiled a little coyly. “Or rather,we’regetting married.”

“Yes we are. Do it from here. Call them now.”

“I’ll do it downstairs and then find something for dinner. I am starving,” she said as a loud rumble of her belly echoed around them.

“Call from here, get dressed and we can go out for dinner if you want, or we could stay in and continue with our Q&A. whatever you want to do tonight is fine.”

“I will phone from here then. I’d rather stay in because I have a couple of Q’s I would like your A’s to.” She laughed.

“Bring it on, baby.” He laughed back as she returned to the bed where he handed her phone to her.

Tasha hit the contact for Gran and Gramps. She waited a few seconds, but it seemed longer. She nervously put them on speaker, hoping their reaction would be positive because if not, there’d be no hiding or masking it from Jim who was lazily stretched out beside her.

“Hi, Gramps, can you put me on speaker please?” she started.

“Nat, my girl, how are you?” cried Paul.

“Hello, darling,” her grandmother called.

“Tash!” came a joint cry from Dan and Pippa.

“Full house,” cried Tasha. “Look, I am glad you’re all together there’s something I want to tell you all.”

“Are you pregnant?” asked Pippa to disapproving sounds from Celia and frowns from Jim.

“No,” she protested but couldn’t help but laugh a little at her sister’s chastisement if not her question.

“Are you okay, Tash?” asked Dan nervously.

“Yeah, fine. Better than fine actually.” She grinned at Jim then said, “Jim has asked me to marry him and I’ve said yes.”

Paul was the first to speak. “Congratulations. He told me he was going to ask you, well, he actually asked if he could ask you.”
