“Yes.”
“So?” Jim persisted with his questioning, in spite of her obvious desire not to answer.
“So what?” Tasha could feel her anxiety levels rising. Not for what she had to say but for what he might think or feel afterwards.
“Tasha, for Christ’s sake, will you just tell me what the story is there?” He sounded annoyed again, annoyed and confused as to why she was being so elusive about this when she had only ever been honest with him. But why? Did Tasha still harbour feelings for Gerry?
Her loud sigh echoed around them. “There’s no story to tell. We lived together for two years and you know how it ended.”
“Yes, and so do all of the other guests at dinner. I just want to know everything Tasha. Details.”
“Sorry. I didn’t mean to tell everyone about Gerry, but I don’t want to discuss this now, Jim. Let’s talk about it tomorrow, if we must.” She almost pleaded with him to stop.
“Okay, but we must, Tasha. I’ve known you less than a week and I like you, a lot, but I want to know everything about you. I need to and I didn’t think it was appropriate to do our Q and A session over dinner tonight.”
“No,” she agreed. “They all seem like nice people, your family and friends.” Her eagerness to change the subject was clear to them both.
“Hmmm,” was Jim’s only response and Tasha was in no doubt his inability to concur was down to one person at dinner, Howser.
She opened her eyes, stretched and let out a little yawn as his grip tightened around her.
“Hello.” Jim pushed himself against her.
“Hello yourself.” Tasha pushed herself into him, making them both laugh.
“What do you want to do today?” His voice was muffled by the position of his face buried in her hair and neck where he littered dozens of tiny kisses.
“You.” Tasha’s reply coincided with her rolling her behind against his hips encouraging him to get on board with her plan.
Jim laughed against her ear, making her skin tighten as it came up in tiny goosebumps. “You really cannot get enough, can you?”
“I don’t think I’ll ever get enough of you. But I thought you liked that about me.” She smiled triumphantly as his hand found her breast.
“It’s one of the many things I like about you, Tasha. I have now added your unconventional dance moves.” He laughed again.
“You have some pretty good moves yourself.” Her words were accompanied by her turning fully so as to face him.
“Baby, as much as I’d like to get lost in you again I have too many things I want to know so let’s have breakfast, get showered and dressed and then I would like to take you out and we can talk.”
“Okay.” She readily agreed knowing there was no choice in the matter but threw in a pout for good measure, earning a single sharp spank to her behind.
“Do you want to drive?” Jim asked as they left the house.
“I told you everything’s the wrong way round.”
“You’ll have to get used to it sooner or later, honey.”
“Why?” She was genuinely confused why she’d need to get used to anything when she was going home in a matter of days. Her final thought caused a sudden sadness to wash over her.
“Because when you live out here you’ll need to be mobile and as you don’t like to be driven by Mike...”
“Jim, I have no plans to live out here.”
“But you will, baby,” he said with an air of authority in spite of hisbabyendearment. “So, do you want to drive?”
“Do I have a choice?” She thought there was unlikely to be a choice.
“Depends.” He grinned.
