Hunter stepped over beside me and put a hand on my shoulder. In my ear, he whispered, "Don't forget, you agreed to this."
I slid my gaze over to him.Loganagreed to it, but I hadn't spoken out against it.
Hunter smirked and stepped away. "Go ahead."
Bruno took his place beside me. Standing close. Giving me comfort. "You can do this," he said. "I know for a fact Gage was dealing drugs to minors."
I frowned over at Gage. His lips were pressed together. Expression sullen.
"You did that?" I asked.
He turned his face to the side and didn't answer. Anyone who'd do that to children didn't deserve to get back into that elevator and go back to living their lives.
I slowly raised the gun, carefully aimed it at the centre of Gage's head and pulled the trigger.
My hand jumped with the recoil. I shoved the gun back at Hunter and walked back over to the bleachers almost before Gage's body hit the floor.
We'd won this match. We had to win one more. And then, if things went according to plan, our final match would be against Logan and Sanun. I'd have to kill again before this day was over, but one step at a time.
One match at a time.
One ping pong at a time.
SIX
TASH
"They're being extra," Bruno remarked loudly as Logan and Sanun stepped away from the table, having won their match after five games.
Logan glared at him like he might use the gun on Bruno instead of his opponent, but he aimed quickly and ended him before walking away, without a glance at Sanun.
Once again, Sanun looked like he wanted to be anywhere but here, but he dispatched the other losing opponent and shoved the gun at Hunter.
"I don't think they're enjoying this, Parker," Hunter said to his twin.
Parker hummed his agreement and helped drag the bodies out of the room.
"Take another rest," Hunter called out behind him. "Two hours this time. We'll bring food down. Wouldn't want you to die of hunger."
I followed Bruno back into the storeroom and sat on the pallet to pull off my boots and toss them aside. I wanted to put a bullet through both of them. Maybe my feet too. They ached from wearing the stupid things. They'd done what I intendedthem to do. Now I wanted to be as comfortable as I could. Under the circumstances.
"What are the chances they'll bring down something decent?" Bruno sat down beside me. "Food, I mean."
"They fucking better," Sanun muttered. He wiped sweat off his brow.
"That was too close," I said. They'd almost lost their game.
I'd only known these guys a matter of hours, but I didn't want to lose any of them. Strange how something like this could bond people together.
Sanun gave me a long look before putting his hand on the back of my neck and slamming his mouth down onto mine.
His mouth tasted of salt from the sweat, along with something like cinnamon and sugar.
I was surprised by the sudden kiss, but then I was kissing him back, my arms around his neck.
"I guess he's feeling mortal today too," Bruno remarked.
I laughed against Sanun's mouth, but didn't stop kissing him. Didn't say no when he tugged down the front of my corset, exposing my breasts.
