“I mean, in the 'oh, look there’s a bad boy who’s definitely going to break my heart,' kind of way. Not that you’re going to break my heart, because we’re casual, obviously. I just mean?—”
She gets flustered, and I stop to kiss her as she lets out a grunt of frustration.
“If it comes so easy to you, why haven’t you been with anyone else before?” she asks.
“Because I never wanted anyone else.”
She seems to have trouble accepting that answer, but it’s not a lie. I could have left the island and found a meaningless fuck, but there was nothing about that option that appealed to me.
They wouldn’t be her.
“It’s just hard to believe you could have your pick of anyone, and you’d choose me,” she says. “I’m nothing special.”
“Hey.” My thumb grazes her chin. “Don’t talk about my girlfriend like that. In case you haven’t noticed, I’m pretty protective of her.”
A hint of a smile tugs at her lips. “Girlfriend, hmm?”
“There was never a competition,Praeda. Nobody else could ever compare.”
She swallows and forces a nod.
“Okay…well, I’ll try not to get worked up when other women throw themselves at you.”
“Get as worked up as you like,” I murmur the words against her lips. “Lay claim to me then and there.”
A quiet laugh escapes her. “You’d like that, wouldn’t you?”
“You have no idea.”
I take her by the hand, and we venture to the other two game booths. By the time we finish, she has two more giant plushies for her bed. I carry the latest additions for her as we make our way back to the big wheel.
As we approach, Gabi watches curiously as an attendant exits one of the cages with a cleaning basket and flips the colored dot on the front to green. A couple ahead of us enters that cage, and we set Gabi’s prizes on top of the cubbies before making our way to the front of the line—cotton candy in hand.
She glances at it in question, but doesn’t ask me about it as the attendant opens the next cage for us.
As we step inside, Gabi glances around the small space, which features red-velvet-lined walls on the bottom half, matching drapes, and ambient light strips. At the center is a cushioned table covered with a fresh sheet, and along the wall, there’s also a small bench.
The cage clicks shut, and as we start to move, Gabi peers out through a gap in the drapes.
“Should we keep them open?” she asks.
“No.” A slightly psychotic possession bleeds through my tone as I press against her from behind, letting her feel my erection against her back. “You’re for my eyes only.”
She shivers in anticipation as I tilt her face up to meet mine. “Ready?”
“Yes.”
I close the drapes and pull my hoodie off her, tossing it onto the bench. Her nipples stab against the thin fabric of her leotard, and I can’t resist groping her through the material as her head falls back against my chest. We stay like that for a while, her eyes closed as her body melts against me in offering.
My gaze drifts over her, memorizing her beating pulse and the curve of her neck. I could stand here all night, staring at her like a serial killer—exactly as she described. Now that I’ve finally allowed myself to look at her for longer than a few seconds at a time, I’m not sure I can stop.
Unfortunately, darkness is fading as light filters into the sky outside, and morning will be here soon. That seems to be the unrelenting theme of our time together—there’s never enough, and it’s always slipping away. It’s a constant echo in my mind, mirroring the reality that this doomed relationship will have to end at some point.
Shoving that thought aside, I bend down to grab Gabi around the back of her thighs, lifting her up and spreading her out on the table. Nervous energy pulses through her as I lay her arms down at her sides and smooth her hair back from her face.
“Beautiful,Praeda.”
Warmth floods her eyes as she peers up at me, and then her gaze drifts to the rigid outline of my cock straining against my pants. She reaches up with a tentative hand and grazes the zipper with her fingers, and I have to bite back a groan.
