"I don't think it's a good idea. Besides, we are closer to the main entrance," she told me. "Come with me."

She took the wine glass from me and placed it on the tray of a waiter passing by, held my hand, and led me to the exit.

"Now, what do we do?" I asked her, feeling worse.

"I can't disappear from the party because everyone will start to sense that something is going on, and we might get caught," she started to say. "But since you're my sister, I can make an exception."

She motioned to Max. Her bodyguard was watching the entrance to the hotel. I distinguished him by his scent because smell was the only sense I still had intact.

The luxurious hotel was adorned with rustic decoration: forest green walls with gold accents, gray granite floor, handmade furniture made of the best quality maple wood, and crystal chandeliers so high and forgotten that they had some cobwebs hanging from them. All of these looked like out-of-focus images.

"Do you have what I ordered you?" she asked him.

"Yes, future Luna," he replied, handing her a key.

"Here you go," she said as she placed the key in my hand. "I should be getting back now, but Max will take you to the elevator and send you to the suite," she said. "Use it to rest, and as soon as I can, I'll come to see you."

She turned and walked hurriedly to the lounge, not giving me time to thank her.

"This way.” Max led the way, and when he had already entered the elevator, he pressed the button for me and looked at me curiously as the elevator closed its doors.

It didn't take long for the doors to open on a floor I had never been to. The suite was usually used to accommodate special guests, but since Linda was the favorite, she could do as she pleased and stay in whatever suite she wished.

I staggered to the door, which luckily was unlocked because, in my current state, I wouldn't have been able to fit the key in the lock.

I pushed the door with the weight of my body, and as I entered, I felt my heart stop as if I was short of breath. My eyes could not believe it, and even though I doubted if it was real or the effect of the wine, this was something that I could not have imagined, even in my wildest dreams.

Chapter 2 Eric

As soon as I entered the salon, I wanted to disappear, but because of my father and my responsibility as Future Alpha, I had to do my duty and represent my people at this celebration.

"Would you like another glass of wine?" The Alpha's daughter handed me a cup, and together we toasted.

She was a very young, attractive girl, and also accommodating. She never let my glass go empty and always asked me if I felt comfortable. I guessed that, being the firstborn, she felt a duty to create a good relationship with the one who would be the next Alpha of the neighboring pack.

"The wine is very good, but I think this will be my last glass," I told her.

"It's a pity; it's the wine from my father's private collection," she shared. "He only enjoys it with royalty."

"I appreciate your gesture," I said, trying to reply in a courtly manner.

"Am I interrupting something?" a tall boy with long, curly brown hair asked the blonde.

"Not at all, Alston. I was actually looking for you," she said to the boy, taking him by the hand, so I presumed they were a couple. "Do you mind if I leave you alone?"

"No, not at all," I replied. "Thank you so much for your warm welcome!"

"Enjoy the party!"

The future Luna carefully lifted her thigh-high nacre dress, made a showy bow, took the boy by the hand again, and lost herself in the crowd.

Before I took the last sip from the wine glass, I felt lightheaded, as dizzy as if I had drunk a whole barrel of wine. Yet it could not have had that effect because, as a Werewolf, my body metabolized alcohol faster.

The ice sculpture in the center of the room turned its head and looked me straight in the eye, and that was when I knew I was so drunk that if I stayed one second longer, I might do something stupid and show weakness to the rest of the packs, so I stood and walked as upright as possible to the main entrance of the room. When a guard saw me, he opened the door for me.

"Are you all right, Eric?" the young man asked.

"Yes, I just wish to rest a bit," I replied.
