“Fuck me,” I breathed.
Her head shot up, large curls bouncing around her shoulders. “Grayson.”
She walked over to me and I took her hand, turning her so I could take in every inch of the woman who drove me wild. Once she completed a full circle, I pulled her in for a gentle kiss. Her lips were painted black and matched the dark smoky eye makeup. I wondered if she noticed the way she was drawn to my colour.
I couldn’t wait. If we were late, so be it, but I couldn’t spend another second in limbo.
“You look beautiful,” I told her.
“You don’t look too bad yourself.”
“I’d like to take you somewhere before we join the party.”
“Where?”
“Do you trust me?”
Her features softened as she held the lapels of my jacket. “With all I have.”
Her response drew a smile on my face, and I wrapped my aura around us, whisking us away from the bedroom and onto the clifftop at the back of our property.
“You brought me out to the grounds?” Quen asked, looking confused.
“I come here when I need some quiet.”
She left my side and wandered towards the edge of the cliff, looking up at the vast, dark sky.
“Do you like it here?” I asked, watching as she gazed into the night.
“I don’t think I’ll ever get used to how beautiful it is. There’s always something that takes my breath away.”
Suddenly, the nerves flooded my body, but I forced myself down on one knee behind her.
“Quentin,” I called.
She turned to face me. “Yes, Gr— What are you doing?”
Her eyes were wide as she stared down at me.
“Quentin, there is no one else for me. For some reason, your stubborn, infuriating, and amazing self was made for me. You consume my thoughts, and I am thankful that I will never have to imagine a single day without you. My soulbound. How lucky am I to have found you.
“We are bound by soul, darling, but I desire more than that. I want you to become my wife, Quen. I wish to spend every moment of our immortality bound to you in every way possible. So I did as you asked. I spoke to Cassidy, and he gave us his blessing.”
A tear rolled down her cheek and Quentin trembled as she stood in front of me.
“I am a God, down on my knee, asking if you’ll be my wife for the rest of eternity. Would you do me that honour, Quentin? Would you marry me? Be my Queen and I will give you the stars.”
Quen stared at me, silence consuming us, and a knot formed in my chest. This could go either way, and I wasn’t filled with confidence.
“Quentin?” I prompted. When she continued to stay quiet, I rose from the ground and walked towards her. “Golden girl?”
When I took her face in my hands, she broke out of her trance and whispered, “Yes.”
“I’m sorry?”
“Yes, I’ll marry you.”
Ihadn’t expected Gray to be on one knee when I turned around. He hadn’t asked me to marry him for a while and I thought he might have given up on the notion.
